The Blues have brought Logan Mailloux back from his conditioning stint in Springfield, and the defenseman is with the team in Nashville for Saturday’s final game of a four-game road trip.
Mailloux, 23, is still on injured reserve while he works his way back from the broken right hand that required surgery on Sept. 28.
The injury came in St. Louis’ final preseason game on Sept. 26 against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Before the club left on the trip, coach Jim Montgomery said there was at least a chance Mailloux could be available against the Predators, though he made clear that a return Tuesday at home against the Red Wings was the more realistic target. The Blues have already gone 5-4 over the Detroit Red Wings, lost 3-1 to the New York Rangers and dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the New Jersey Devils on the trip.
Once Mailloux is officially activated, the Blues will have to sort out the defense picture. Rookie Adam Jiricek looks like the most likely candidate to go to Springfield because he is waivers-exempt.
Justin Barron has also made a strong case to stay put after posting nine points, including two goals and seven assists, in 13 games. Theo Lindstein is another name in the mix for a possible move to Springfield.
There is also room on the roster, so St. Louis could simply activate Mailloux and hold off on any additional move for now.
Last season, Mailloux played in 67 regular-season games and finished with 13 points, scoring five goals and adding eight assists.

Blues Let A Sure Road Win Turn Into A Brutal OT Loss
A road game that looked all but settled turned into a gut punch for the Blues, who rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the third period only to leave with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Devils. St. Louis had every reason to believe it was about to steal a win after a furious push flipped the momentum late, but the comeback still ended with nothing to show for it.
Jordan Binnington did enough to keep the Blues in the fight with 31 saves, while New Jersey got 28 stops from Connor Hellebuyck to hang on through the chaos. The loss stings not just because St. Louis nearly completed the escape, but because it turned what should have been a sure road victory into a reminder of how quickly one breakdown can undo an otherwise impressive rally. Blues May Be Reaching A Breaking Point With Jordan Binnington
Jordan Binningtons start to the 2026-27 season has put the Blues in an uncomfortable spot, because the numbers have been hard to ignore and the margin for patience can only stretch so far. Through five starts, he has struggled to find the kind of stability St. Louis usually expects from its No. 1 goalie, and the team has already had to live with too many nights where the game tilted the wrong way early.
If the Blues decide they have reached the point where a change is necessary, the conversation quickly shifts from Binningtons play to what comes next in the crease. St. Louis would not just be dealing with the challenge of finding a new starter, but also with the ripple effect on its goaltending pipeline, where the organization would have to sort out which young option stays in place and which one becomes part of the cost of making a move. Blues Get Logan Mailloux Back At A Crucial Time For Their Blue Line
The Blues have brought Logan Mailloux back into the fold after sending him on a conditioning stint with the Springfield Thunderbirds, a timely boost for a blue line that could use another option. Acquired last season, Mailloux arrives with both NHL and AHL experience, and his return gives St. Louis another defenseman to work into the mix as it tries to settle its back end.
Maillouxs path back has been slowed by the hand injury he picked up in the preseason, and the organization has been careful in getting him back up to speed. With the recall now complete, the next step is seeing how quickly he can translate that recovery into game action and whether he can help steady a defense that has been waiting for him to rejoin it.
