South Carolina Targets Two Five-Star Recruits in Stacked 2027 Class

South Carolinas 2027 in-state football class is already drawing national attention-with several top-ranked prospects and early offers shaping the recruiting landscape.

South Carolina’s 2027 recruiting class is already shaping up to be something special-and the Gamecocks are wasting no time laying the foundation. The in-state talent pool is stacked, and South Carolina has zeroed in on some of the state’s best, extending offers to nine homegrown prospects who are already making noise on the national scene.

At the top of the list are two five-star standouts who are turning heads across the country. Cornerback Joshua Dobson out of Catawba Ridge is ranked No. 3 nationally and sits as the No. 2 corner in the 2027 class.

He’s a lockdown defender with elite instincts and fluid hips, the kind of player who can anchor a secondary from Day 1. Right behind him is Irmo’s Jaiden Bryant, an explosive EDGE rusher ranked No. 34 nationally and No. 5 at his position.

Bryant brings a rare blend of speed and power off the edge-he’s the type of defensive disruptor that keeps offensive coordinators up at night.

But the depth in the Palmetto State goes well beyond the two headliners. South Carolina has also offered several four-star prospects who are climbing the rankings with strong junior seasons.

Running back David Segarra out of Byrnes is one of the most intriguing names on the list. He’s currently ranked No. 246 nationally and No. 18 among running backs in the 247Sports Composite, but 247Sports’ own rankings have him even higher-as the No. 109 overall player and the No.

5 RB in the country. And the tape backs it up.

Segarra rushed for 1,460 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, showcasing vision, burst, and a physical running style that translates to the next level.

Defensive lineman Seth Tillman (No. 112 nationally, No. 11 DL) and offensive tackle Nate Carson (No. 165 nationally, No.

15 OT) are two more big men in the trenches who’ve earned offers from the Gamecocks. Tillman brings size and versatility up front, while Carson has the frame and footwork to develop into a high-level bookend on the offensive line.

The wide receiver group also has some promising names. Khristian Jackson (Ridge View High School) and Jaiden Kelly-Murray (Summerville High School) are ranked No. 351 and No. 370 nationally, respectively, and both crack the top 55 at their position.

247Sports sees even more upside in each-Jackson is listed as the No. 35 WR, and Kelly-Murray as the No.

  1. Both bring size, speed, and playmaking ability that could help stretch the field in the Gamecocks’ offense down the line.

At running back, Aiden Gibson (No. 438 nationally, No. 34 RB) is another name to watch.

And on the defensive front, Dutch Fork’s Jaden Wuerth is coming off a strong season that helped his team win a state title. Wuerth tallied 62 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and four sacks, and is currently ranked No. 586 nationally and No. 65 among defensive linemen.

247Sports has him a bit higher at No. 58 at his position.

South Carolina’s in-state strategy seems clear: lock down the borders and build from within. That approach got its first big win on Christmas Day, when the Gamecocks landed their first commitment of the 2027 cycle-four-star safety Jernard Albright out of Effingham County in Springfield, Georgia. It’s a strong early statement for a class that’s already showing serious potential.

There’s still a long way to go before Signing Day 2027, but with this kind of in-state talent and early momentum, South Carolina is putting itself in position to build something special.
