Bear Woods, a standout from Westside High School in Anderson, S.C., is the latest to receive an offer, joining the ranks of Ty Snell from Allen, Texas, and CJ Cypher from Carrollton, Georgia.
Bear, who brings a unique left-handed flair to his play, is already garnering attention beyond South Carolina. With offers from Appalachian State, Miami of Ohio, East Tennessee State, and Wake Forest, his skills are clearly turning heads. This past Saturday, Bear was on the Gamecocks' campus, taking in their sixth spring practice, and likely envisioning his future in garnet and black.
In his freshman year, Bear demonstrated his potential by completing 161 of 276 passes, amassing 2,318 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. Not just a threat through the air, he also added 96 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. It's no wonder the Gamecocks are keen on adding him to their roster.
South Carolina is casting a wide net in their quarterback search, spanning multiple recruiting classes. Jerry Meyer III, a 2027 three-star talent from Waxahachie, Texas, visited the campus last Saturday.
Meyer had previously committed to TCU during Briles' tenure there, hinting at a strong connection. Next up is DJ Hunter, another three-star prospect from Buford, Georgia, who plans to visit next Saturday and has an official visit on the books.
Looking ahead to the 2028 class, the Gamecocks are in the mix for four-star quarterback Kaden Craft from Mooresville, N.C., who visited earlier this spring. Meanwhile, CJ Cypher is scheduled to check out the campus on April 8.
