As the 2025 season wrapped up, South Carolina hit the transfer portal with precision, securing three key defensive tackles: Kelby Collins, Tomiwa Durojaiye, and Jordan Thomas. They also added promising high school talents Aiden Harris and Noah Clark to their roster. This strategic move comes as the Gamecocks look to fill the void left by Monkell Goodwine and Nick Barrett, who collectively racked up 73 tackles last season.
Returning to the lineup are Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, Troy Pikes, Caleb Williams, and Christian Ingram, adding depth alongside these new recruits. Durojaiye stands out as a top-tier transfer, ranked No. 7 among defensive linemen by 247Sports. His record boasts 42 tackles and 6.5 sacks over three seasons.
Collins, with his experience at Florida and Alabama, brings 41 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks from 32 games. Last season, he made a notable impact with the Crimson Tide, recording 12 tackles, three for loss, and two sacks. Meanwhile, Thomas joins after two solid seasons at Georgia.
Coach Robertson shared insights during a recent press conference, emphasizing the challenge of finding players with the right mix of size, speed, and leadership. "We hand-picked our d-linemen with Jordan, Kelby, and Tomi," he noted.
"They’re adjusting well, excelling in nutrition, the weight room, and now on the field. It's been promising."
Freshmen Harris and Clark, who committed early, have also caught Robertson's eye. "They wanted to be here for development and relationships," he explained.
Both finished their high school careers as four-star prospects, with Harris ranked No. 85 overall and Clark at No. 138.
Robertson praised their progress, saying, "Noah is one of our biggest freshmen in years-fast, strong, and physical. Aiden is twitchy and passionate about football. They're making typical freshman mistakes, but their potential is clear."
With spring practice underway, the Gamecocks are optimistic about their new defensive line's potential. The blend of seasoned transfers and eager freshmen sets the stage for a promising season ahead.
