Shane Beamers SEC Media Days Picks Say A Lot About This Reset Year

As SEC Media Days approach, South Carolina's Coach Beamer is set to spotlight key players Sellers, Harbor, and Williams, aiming to revitalize the Gamecocks ahead of the 2026 season.

South Carolina will send three familiar faces with Shane Beamer to SEC Media Days next week, and the group gives a pretty clear snapshot of where the Gamecocks are headed into 2026.

The league announced Tuesday that Beamer will be accompanied in Tampa, Florida, by quarterback LaNorris Sellers, wide receiver Nyck Harbor and defensive back Peyton Williams. SEC Football Media Days run from July 20 through July 23, and South Carolina’s turn comes on July 21, when Beamer and his players will be on the same stage as representatives from Auburn, Georgia and Vanderbilt.

For Sellers, it’s a return trip. He’s heading to SEC Media Days for the second time after making his debut last year in Atlanta alongside Beamer, DQ Smith and Nick Barrett.

Now entering his third season as South Carolina’s starting quarterback in 2026, Sellers is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he threw for 2,437 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions while adding 270 rushing yards and five scores on the ground. Through his time with the Gamecocks, the redshirt junior has piled up 6,052 yards of offense and 46 touchdowns.

Harbor is also set for a prominent role after the best season of his career. In 2025, he posted personal highs with 30 catches, 618 receiving yards and six touchdowns. The senior has appeared in 36 games for South Carolina and has 1,189 career receiving yards.

Williams gives the Gamecocks another veteran presence. He’s been in the program since 2022 and enters his redshirt senior year in 2026 after his strongest season yet.

Last fall, Williams started all 12 games at safety, finished fifth on the team with 50 tackles and tied for the team lead with two interceptions. Over four seasons, the Texas native has played in 28 games and recorded 72 tackles.

South Carolina is trying to move forward after a 4-8 finish in 2025. The Gamecocks open the 2026 season at home against Kent State on Sept. 5 at 12:45 p.m.

Gamecocks Just Missed On Another Blue-Chip Linebacker Battle

South Carolina was in the mix for another coveted linebacker, but the latest blue-chip target came off the board with a decision that keeps the Gamecocks waiting for a bigger splash at the position. Mikahi Allen, a four-star prospect from Ramsey, N.J., is headed to Texas A&M for the 2027 class, a choice that also strengthens an Aggies recruiting haul already loaded with elite talent.

For South Carolina, the miss lands in a linebacker room where the future picture is still taking shape. The Gamecocks do have Jackson Ross committed in the class, but Allens profile as one of the better-rated defenders in the cycle shows how competitive these national battles have become, especially when Texas A&M is stacking commitments and forcing other programs to keep chasing the next opening. Gamecocks Pipeline Made Another Loud Statement In The MLB Draft

South Carolinas presence in the recent MLB Draft was hard to miss, with seven players tied to the program or its pipeline hearing their names called. The group included three players from last years team and four more from the recruiting class, a reminder that the Gamecocks continue to be a place where pro scouts find arms and upside.

Among the familiar names, right-handers Amp Phillips and Will Whelan stood out as part of that broader wave of interest, while Miguel Hugas, Ethan Sutton, Connor Shouse and Alex Philpott added to the list of South Carolina-connected players moving into the next phase of their careers. For a program that sells development as much as results, another draft class like this only reinforces how much attention the Gamecocks are drawing before the next season even begins. [Read more 🡒]

Texas A&M Looks Like A Real Problem For South Carolina Again

Texas A&Ms trip to Williams-Brice Stadium on Nov. 7 is already shaping up as one of the more consequential dates on South Carolinas home schedule. The Aggies arrive with the look of a program that expects to stay in the national conversation, coming off an 11-2 season and a College Football Playoff berth while bringing back quarterback Marcel Reed and leading rusher Rueben Owens II.

There is still plenty for Texas A&M to sort through, though, after replacing NFL draft picks on both sides of the ball and layering in a batch of transfers to keep the roster stocked. The offensive line picture includes a familiar face for Gamecock fans in Trovon Baugh, and even special teams is in transition with a new kicker in place, so South Carolina will get a good read on just how quickly the Aggies can reload when they walk into Columbia late in the season.
