South Carolina is making its presence felt at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, with four of their standout players showcasing their skills. Kicking things off was defensive tackle Nick Barrett, who took center stage on Thursday afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Barrett's measurements set the tone for his day: standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 312 pounds, with an arm length of 33 3/8 inches and hands measuring 10 inches. These stats are just the beginning of what Barrett brings to the table.
Here's how Barrett performed in the drills:
- 40-yard dash: Clocked at 5.1 seconds
- 10-yard split: 1.71 seconds
- 20-yard shuttle: 4.91 seconds
- Vertical jump: 31.5 inches
- Broad jump: 9 feet
His agility shone through, with his 10-yard split and 20-yard shuttle times ranking sixth among the defensive tackles. Not too shabby for a player who's eyeing the next level.
Barrett's athletic prowess is further highlighted by his unofficial 8.65 RAS (Relative Athletic Score) out of 10. This places him 277th among 2,046 defensive tackles evaluated from 1987 to 2026-a testament to his potential impact in the NFL.
Reflecting on his college career, Barrett wrapped up a strong final season as a team captain at South Carolina. He recorded 42 tackles, 27 of which were solo, alongside two sacks and a pass breakup. His standout performances included five-tackle games against Vanderbilt and Alabama, with his best outing being a six-tackle game against Missouri.
Over five seasons in the garnet and black, Barrett accumulated 72 tackles, six for loss, and two sacks across 51 games. His leadership and consistency have been key for the Gamecocks.
Joining Barrett at the Combine are defensive backs Brandon Cisse and Jalon Kilgore, who will showcase their talents on Friday, while running back Rahsul Faison will hit the field on Saturday. Fans can catch all the action starting at 3 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday, with coverage provided by NFL Network.
As the Combine unfolds, Barrett and his fellow Gamecocks are looking to make a lasting impression and solidify their spots in the upcoming NFL Draft.
