South Carolina didn’t just beat Oklahoma on Saturday. The Gamecocks put together another clean, explosive performance and rolled to a 42-25 win, making it three straight victories as November approaches.
And once again, LaNorris Sellers was the engine behind it all.
Sellers followed up strong showings against Florida and Tennessee with the best outing of his young stretch yet. He completed 19 of 24 passes for 301 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, then added 96 yards and two more scores on 13 carries. It marked his second consecutive game with five total touchdowns, along with season highs in passing yards and rushing touchdowns.
The quarterback’s arm talent kept showing up in the biggest moments. Early in the second quarter, Sellers delivered the kind of throw that changes the feel of a game and helped push South Carolina into a 21-7 lead.
That’s an NFL throw, folks.
He also outpaced Oklahoma in total offense by himself. The Sooners finished with 359 yards, while Sellers accounted for 397 on his own. Most of Oklahoma’s production came late, with the game already well out of reach.
South Carolina kept stacking advantages in the other hidden areas too. The Gamecocks converted 9 of 14 third- and fourth-down chances, including 1-for-1 on fourth down, and they were perfect in the red zone. Malik Orsan never had to attempt a field goal because South Carolina finished 6-for-6 inside the 20, with all six trips ending in touchdowns.
Now 5-3, South Carolina has put itself in a position to at least stay in the conversation for the College Football Playoff, though the road ahead is steep. The Gamecocks still have Texas A&M, Arkansas, Georgia and Clemson left on the schedule.

South Carolina Suddenly Has A Huge Backfield Problem After Oklahoma
Matt Fullers breakout season took a hard turn in the first quarter against Oklahoma, when the South Carolina running back left with an ankle injury and later was found to have a broken bone in his foot. He is expected to have surgery, which likely ends his season and leaves the Gamecocks without one of their most productive backs at a time when the offense had been leaning on him heavily.
Fuller had already piled up 513 rushing yards and five touchdowns before the injury, giving South Carolina a reliable presence in the backfield and a steady option in the run game. In his absence against Oklahoma, Jabree Coleman, Christian Clark and Isaiah Augustave all got work, and the Gamecocks now have to sort out how they replace Fullers production moving forward. Dabo Swinney Blasts Fan Stunt He Says Crossed The Line
Clemsons win over Florida State was supposed to be the headline, but Dabo Swinney spent part of his postgame attention on something floating above the stadium instead. A banner calling for the firing of coach Mike Norvell and trustee Peter Collins drew Swinneys criticism, with the Clemson coach pointing out the misspelling of Norvells name and saying he was disappointed by the stunt. The message was reportedly crowdfunded by a fan and cost $3,550.
Swinneys reaction fit a broader point he has made before about what should and should not happen when a team is struggling. He stressed that the focus ought to stay on supporting the players, not turning losses into public campaigns aimed at getting people fired. In a rivalry-driven sport where emotion runs high, the banner became a reminder that the line between venting frustration and crossing into something uglier can be a thin one. [Read more 🡒]
South Carolinas Surge Suddenly Feels Like Something Much Bigger
South Carolinas surge has started to look less like a hot stretch and more like a team finding its footing at the right time. The Gamecocks went into Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and came away with a 42-25 win over Oklahoma, their third straight conference victory, while piling up 521 total yards in a performance that traveled well and carried real weight in the SEC race.
LaNorris Sellers was at the center of it all, completing 19 of 24 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns while adding 96 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground. The result pushed South Carolina to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the league, and it left the Gamecocks with something they have not had much of this season: momentum that feels built to last.
