South Carolina Lands Five-Star Guard Jerzy Robinson, Bolstering Nation’s Top Recruiting Class
South Carolina women’s basketball just added another major piece to its future - and it’s a name fans will want to remember.
Jerzy Robinson, the dynamic 6-foot shooting guard out of Sierra Canyon, announced her commitment to the Gamecocks live on NBA Today, choosing Dawn Staley’s powerhouse program over fellow heavyweights LSU and UConn. It’s a huge win for South Carolina, and another signal that the Gamecocks have no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
Robinson, one of the most coveted players in the 2026 class, made an official visit to Columbia back on October 27. That trip clearly left an impression, helping tilt the scales in favor of a program that’s become synonymous with elite guard development and championship-caliber culture.
Make no mistake - Robinson is the real deal. She was named MVP of last year’s USA U16 National Team, a nod to both her skill and her leadership on the international stage.
According to 247Sports Director of Scouting Brandon Clay, Robinson needed a little time to shake off the rust this year after opting out of the spring club circuit. But once she found her rhythm?
She was back to doing what she does best: putting the ball in the basket.
Clay describes her as a “rhythm scorer,” a player who just needs to see a few shots fall before she catches fire. And when she does?
Watch out. At 6 feet tall, she brings a rare combination of size, skill, and scoring instincts to the backcourt - the kind of player who can take over a game when it matters most.
Robinson’s commitment is the latest headline in what’s already been a strong recruiting stretch for South Carolina. Earlier this week, the Gamecocks secured a pledge from French standout Alicia Tournebize, adding international flair and versatility to a class that’s shaping up to be one of the deepest in the country.
For Dawn Staley and her staff, this is more than just another top-tier recruit. It’s a statement.
South Carolina continues to be a destination for elite talent - not just because of its winning tradition, but because of the development, exposure, and culture it offers. With Robinson now in the fold, the Gamecocks are once again setting the standard in women’s college basketball.
