Iveon Lewis Sets South Carolina Visit and Sparks Recruiting Momentum

Highly touted 2027 wide receiver Iveon Lewis is giving South Carolina a closer look as the Gamecocks continue to build momentum with top-tier recruits.

South Carolina is starting to make early moves in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and two wide receivers are already locked in for official visits to Columbia later this year.

On Friday morning, Iveon Lewis, a rising pass catcher out of Huguenot High School in Richmond, Virginia, announced that he’ll be on campus the weekend of May 1. Lewis is a three-star prospect and currently ranks as the No. 42 wide receiver in the 2027 class, per 247Sports. Not far behind him in the same rankings is Jaiden Kelly-Murray from Summerville, South Carolina, who’s slated to visit during the second weekend in June.

Lewis has been on South Carolina’s radar for a while now. He and his Huguenot teammates were in Columbia last summer for a 7-on-7 tournament, giving the Gamecocks an up-close look at his skill set. At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Lewis brings a solid frame and a vertical threat to the table - and his production backs it up.

As a junior, Lewis hauled in 41 receptions for 1,046 yards and 12 touchdowns. That’s not a typo - he averaged over 25 yards per catch.

And it wasn’t a one-year wonder. Over his freshman and sophomore seasons combined, he tallied 71 catches for 1,736 yards and 24 touchdowns.

That’s 36 total touchdowns through three high school seasons, with plenty of tape to show his ability to stretch the field and finish plays.

Earlier this month, Lewis dropped a top-11 list that includes South Carolina, along with Florida State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. As of Friday morning, South Carolina is the only school with a confirmed official visit on his calendar. That’s a promising sign for Shane Beamer’s staff, who are clearly prioritizing Lewis early in the cycle.

As for Kelly-Murray, his visit in June will give the Gamecocks another chance to strengthen ties with an in-state talent who’s also trending upward. Ranked just behind Lewis at the position, Kelly-Murray brings his own set of tools to the table and will be one to watch as the summer unfolds.

With five players from the 2027 class already locked in for official visits, South Carolina’s staff is laying the groundwork early - and doing it with purpose. The focus on explosive, productive receivers like Lewis and Kelly-Murray shows a clear vision for the kind of playmakers they want to bring into the program.
