Gamecocks Make Top Six for Elite 2027 Pass Rusher Rashad Streets

South Carolina remains firmly in the mix for one of the nations top defensive prospects as Rashad Streets narrows his college choices.

One of the most disruptive defensive forces in the 2027 recruiting class just narrowed his list-and South Carolina made the cut.

Rashad Streets, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound edge rusher out of Millbrook High School in Raleigh, N.C., revealed his top six schools Tuesday night. Joining the Gamecocks in the mix are Alabama, Florida State, N.C.

State, Ohio State, and Oregon-some of the biggest names in college football, and for good reason. Streets is ranked as the No. 14 edge prospect in the country by 247Sports, and his film backs it up.

This is a player who lives in the backfield. As a junior, Streets racked up 103 total tackles, with a jaw-dropping 39.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, and five forced fumbles.

That’s not just production-that’s game-wrecking dominance. And it wasn’t a one-year wonder either.

As a sophomore, he posted 123 tackles, 35.5 tackles for loss, and an eye-popping 26.5 sacks. Those are the kind of numbers that turn heads in SEC war rooms.

South Carolina’s staff has clearly taken notice. Streets made multiple visits to Columbia last year, first during the spring to catch a practice, and then again in the fall for the Gamecocks’ showdown with Alabama. That kind of visit schedule isn’t just casual interest-it’s a sign of a relationship building on both sides.

And that relationship has only intensified in 2026. In January, South Carolina’s coaching staff made their presence felt.

Defensive ends coach Deion Barnes conducted an in-home visit with Streets on January 22. Earlier that same day, head coach Shane Beamer and defensive coordinator Clayton White were at Millbrook High to check in on their prized target.

The next step? Streets is expected to return to campus in March, giving the Gamecocks another opportunity to roll out the red carpet and make their case.

With a top-six list full of powerhouse programs, South Carolina’s in the thick of a major recruiting battle. But they’ve laid the groundwork early, and the staff’s persistence is keeping them firmly in the mix. Streets has the kind of game-changing ability that can anchor a defense, and if the Gamecocks can land him, it would be a massive win for the future of their front seven.
