Dabo Swinney Comment Sparks Clemson Outrage

Despite a challenging season, Dabo Swinney emphasizes the steadfast success of Clemson football, highlighting nearly three decades of consistent performance.

Clemson’s season hasn’t looked anything like the standard Dabo Swinney built, but the coach is pointing to a different kind of marker now: the program’s streak of reaching six wins.

The Tigers sit at 5-3, well short of the national-title level expectations that have followed the program for years. Still, Swinney framed the push for bowl eligibility as a sign of steadiness, not failure.

“I’m proud of our team,” Swinney told reporters Tuesday, per The State’s Chapel Fowler. “We’re consistent in a lot of ways.

We’re not perfect, but we’re consistent.”

Clemson can lock up a bowl berth with a win over Syracuse on Saturday afternoon, and Swinney made clear that’s the immediate goal. He pointed out that the Tigers have reached six wins every season since 1998, a run that includes the last 18 seasons with him as head coach.

“We’re trying to get a sixth win,” Swinney added. “Nobody sets out to have six wins, and you say that’s a pretty low bar.

And it is, in totality. But you talk about consistency?

If we could get a sixth win, that would be 27 years in a row for Clemson.”

Swinney said only Georgia, Ohio State, and Oklahoma have matched that kind of streak. Clemson also won two national championships during that stretch.

Of course, six wins is a very different conversation for a program that spent years living in the playoff picture. Clemson put together 12 straight seasons of at least 10 wins from 2011 to 2022, then slipped to nine wins in 2023.

The Tigers bounced back to 10-4 and returned to the CFP in 2024, but last season’s 7-6 finish was a major step back. A trip to the Pinstripe Bowl didn’t soften the blow much, especially after Clemson’s worst season since 2010.

The 2026 start has only added to the frustration, with Clemson opening with a 51-10 loss to LSU. Even so, Swinney kept leaning into the idea that steady habits matter more than flashy bursts.

“Consistency beats intensity … I think consistency is a very underrated thing,” Swinney said. “It’s something I talk about with my team all the time.

You can take 10,000 gallons of water and dump it on a rock, and it’s just a big ol’ splash. But if you let it just drip every day, it will wear a hole in that long.

So having consistency in your program, in everything that you do, creates longevity.”

South Carolina Fans Just Got A Clear CFP Message From The Committee

The College Football Playoff committees first in-season rankings sent a familiar message across the sport, and South Carolina fans had reason to notice it. The initial list leaned heavily toward the SEC, with the committee elevating several league teams above unbeaten squads from other conferences and signaling once again that rsum, schedule strength and quality wins will matter as much as raw record.

For the Gamecocks, it was a reminder of how narrow the margin can be in a crowded playoff race. The committees chairman pointed to the absence of signature wins for teams such as Notre Dame as a reason they landed lower, while SEC teams were given credit even with losses on the ledger. South Carolina now has a clearer sense of the standard it will be judged against, even if the road ahead still leaves plenty to be decided. [Read more 🡒]

South Carolinas New-Look Roster Already Showed Why Fans Should Believe

South Carolinas new-look mens basketball roster wasted little time giving fans a reason to buy in, rolling past Stetson 81-55 to open the 2026-27 season. Juan Fernandez led the way with 20 points, Cam Heide added 13, and the Gamecocks looked every bit like a team built to be harder to handle around the basket than they were a year ago.

The size and rebounding edge was obvious from the start, and it gave South Carolina a steady foundation even as the lineup featured plenty of new faces. For a team trying to establish an identity early, that kind of opening-night performance matters, especially when the pieces are still learning how to fit together. [Read more 🡒]

Texas A&M Gets A Real Opening Against Surging South Carolina

South Carolinas late-season surge has made its next trip through the SEC a little more interesting, even after the Gamecocks climbed to No. 21 in the College Football Playoff poll. They have won three straight conference games, including a recent win over Oklahoma, and have given themselves real momentum heading into a matchup with Texas A&M that now carries a different kind of weight for both sides.

Texas A&M comes in looking to steady itself after a loss to Alabama, while Mike Elkos team tries to keep moving forward against one of the leagues hotter squads. South Carolina will have to do it without running back Matt Fuller because of injury, adding another wrinkle to a game that already feels like a useful measuring stick for how far the Gamecocks have come and how much more they still want to prove.
