Clemson’s basketball team is experiencing its first shake-up of the offseason as forward Jake Wahlin announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. After joining the Tigers from Utah last spring, Wahlin made his mark in his single season at Clemson. Standing tall at 6-10 and weighing 210 pounds, he started in 29 of 35 games but saw his role shift as the season progressed.
While his scoring average was a modest 5.3 points per game, Wahlin contributed significantly as a versatile defender and reliable shooter. His defensive presence and ability to stretch the floor made him a valuable asset, even as he came off the bench in five of Clemson's last seven games. Despite a dip in scoring towards the end of the season, he managed to pull down 3.9 rebounds per game, ranking fourth on the team, and shot 40.3% from the field, including 34% from beyond the arc.
With one year of eligibility left, Wahlin expressed gratitude for his time at Clemson, highlighting the deep connections he formed with teammates and coaches. His announcement on social media was filled with appreciation, stating, “I loved every moment competing alongside my brothers and being a part of a historic season.”
As the NCAA adjusted the transfer portal window for Division I men’s basketball, players like Wahlin have from April 7 to April 21 to officially enter. Once in the portal, they can choose their next destination at any time.
Clemson wrapped up the season with a 24-11 record, going 12-6 in the ACC. Under the guidance of Brad Brownell, the Tigers secured their fourth consecutive 20-win season and made it to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year, a first in the program’s history. However, their journey was cut short by Iowa in the first round.
Looking ahead to the 2026 roster, Clemson will be without five players who have exhausted their eligibility, including Jestin Porter and Dillon Hunter. Alongside Wahlin's departure, the team will welcome new talent, including signees Harris Reynolds and Amare James, as they aim to build on their recent successes.
