Vikings and Seahawks Linked to Pro Bowl Running Back in Trade Talks

Pro Bowl sensation De'Von Achane becomes a hot topic in trade talks as the Vikings and Seahawks eye potential deals amid their running back woes.

In a surprising twist, the Miami Dolphins have traded Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos, and the ripple effect is palpable. The buzz now surrounds the rest of the Dolphins' roster, with running back De'Von Achane's name lighting up the rumor mill. Coming off a stellar Pro Bowl season with over 1,800 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns, Achane is a hot commodity.

While ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins are keen on keeping their dynamic back, we've seen this narrative before. Waddle's trade taught us that if the right offer comes along, Miami's general manager, Jon-Eric Sullivan, might just be tempted.

Why the Vikings and Seahawks Could Fit

NFL Trade Rumors' Logan Ulrich suggests the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks as potential landing spots for Achane. Both teams are in need of a spark in their backfields.

The Vikings currently rely on Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason. Jones, at 31, is battling injuries, and Mason lacks versatility. Meanwhile, the Seahawks' running back situation is equally uncertain, with Zach Charbonnet recovering from a torn ACL and a mix of unproven talent in the wings.

Possible Trade Scenarios

Ulrich proposes an intriguing trade scenario for the Vikings, involving Jordan Addison, Aaron Jones, and a draft pick swap. However, this deal seems unlikely to entice Miami.

While Addison is talented, his off-field issues and expiring rookie contract pose concerns. Jones’ age and injury history, combined with a minimal draft pick upgrade, don't align with the Dolphins' rebuilding strategy.

Conversely, the Seahawks' offer is more appealing. Ulrich suggests Seattle send their first-round pick, No. 32 overall, to Miami. While this is a solid starting point, given the haul received for Waddle, Miami might hold out for even more.

Achane's value is undeniable. At just 24, he's young enough to be a cornerstone for the Dolphins' future, especially with new quarterback Malik Willis needing support. Miami is in no rush and can afford to wait for the right deal.

For now, unless a team steps up with a compelling offer, it looks like Achane will remain a Dolphin.
