Seahawks Trade Buzz Centers On A Star RB Philadelphia May Not Move

Could the Seattle Seahawks pull off a strategic trade for Saquon Barkley to boost their postseason prospects and stabilize their running game?

The Seahawks have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Saquon Barkley, and the fit is easy to see. CBS Sports called Seattle a strong destination for the Philadelphia Eagles running back, pointing to the idea that his big-play ability could change the shape of the Seahawks’ ground game and, by extension, their postseason outlook.

That kind of move would come at a steep cost. As CBS Sports put it, “They [Seattle] would have to pay a hefty price to pry Saquon Barkley away from Philadelphia because of his immense value and his giant cap hit, but with the Eagles poised to watch this season wither away in the wake of countless personnel losses, they should be willing to at least field calls on their superstar running back.”

Barkley’s numbers are down this year, but the résumé remains massive. He has 182 rushing yards on 36 carries this season, is averaging 5.1 yards per attempt and has not scored a rushing touchdown yet. Still, his track record is the real selling point: he has rushed for 1,000 yards five times in his career, ran for 1,140 last season and led the league in rushing yards in 2024 with 2,005.

Seattle could use that kind of punch. The Seahawks have 643 rushing yards on 165 attempts this season, good for 3.9 yards per carry, and they have found the end zone on the ground five times. A more dangerous run game would give the offense better balance, take some of the load off Sam Darnold and help Seattle control games against playoff-caliber teams.

The Seahawks’ offense is built around the run, and the results after losing Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III in free agency last offseason have not matched what the team got from the unit last season in 2026. That makes Barkley the sort of player Seattle would at least have to consider.

There is also the championship element. Barkley helped Philadelphia win the Super Bowl at the end of the 2024 season, and that experience in high-pressure spots is part of what makes him such an appealing target. Whether the Eagles would actually move him is another question, but with Philadelphia starting 2-4 and Jalen Hurts out for the season because of injury, the possibility of a shakeup before the deadline is real.

Seahawks Suddenly Have A Running Back Decision Fans Didnt Expect

The Seahawks have suddenly found themselves looking at the backfield a little differently as the NFL trade deadline approaches, and the conversation is less about adding one more name than about what the current group means moving forward. With injured players potentially returning and the front office still eyeing outside options at running back, Seattle has to weigh short-term depth against the longer-term reality of the roster.

Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and Zach Charbonnet are all sitting in the middle of that uncertainty, and contract status only adds another layer to the decision. Charbonnets post-ACL return is still part of the evaluation, and if Seattle decides to swing for another back, it could create a surprisingly active market for a position group that was supposed to be stable. Seahawks Loss To Denver Now Comes With A Costly New Question

The Seahawks loss to Denver has picked up a little more aftermath, with the league handing down fines on both sides from the game. Seattle players Ty Okada and Mike Morris were docked for illegal helmet use and tripping, while Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton was also fined for illegal helmet use on a late hit against Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold.

For Seattle, the bigger issue is less the money itself than the reminder of how chippy the game turned. The penalties can still be appealed, and a successful challenge could erase them, but for now the Seahawks are left with another uncomfortable layer attached to a loss that already carried enough frustration on its own. Seahawks Suddenly Face A Backfield Problem At The Worst Time

The Seahawks head into a pivotal Week 7 matchup with the undefeated Chiefs already dealing with more pressure than they wanted on offense, and now the backfield is part of the problem too. Zach Charbonnet was ruled out after taking part in practice, leaving Seattle with a thinner running back room at a time when the ground game has already slipped in recent weeks.

That decline has made life harder on Sam Darnold, who is carrying more of the offensive load as the staff continues to search for answers. Seattle has not brought in significant new help at running back, and the coaching staff has been slow to lean on fresh schemes or new pieces, so the challenge now is finding a workable plan before facing one of the leagues toughest opponents.
