The Seahawks are back in the market for an offensive coordinator, but this time, it’s for all the right reasons. Klint Kubiak’s work in Seattle was impressive enough to land him a head coaching gig elsewhere-an outcome that speaks volumes about the impact he made in a short time. Now, the team is evaluating its options, and one of the names on the radar is Conner Senger, a young offensive mind from the Arizona Cardinals.
According to reports, the Seahawks are set to meet with Senger, who is currently a pass game specialist in Arizona. At just 30 years old, Senger has made a fast climb through the coaching ranks.
He entered the NFL in 2022 via the Bill Bidwill Coaching Fellowship, a program designed to create opportunities for diverse coaching talent. That year, he worked under then-head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
When Jonathan Gannon took over in 2023, Senger stayed on board, first as a quality control coach, then as the assistant quarterbacks coach in 2024. Most recently, he was promoted to pass game specialist for a Cardinals offense still trying to find its identity.
There’s no denying Senger has put together a solid foundation early in his coaching career. His experience working with quarterbacks and designing elements of the passing game puts him on a trajectory that many young offensive coaches hope to follow. But in this particular case, his interview with the Seahawks is likely more about fulfilling league requirements than signaling a serious candidacy.
The NFL’s Rooney Rule mandates that teams must interview at least two external minority candidates for coordinator positions. Senger is the first known external interview for Seattle.
While another candidate is expected to follow, the prevailing sense around the league is that the Seahawks are leaning heavily toward promoting from within. That’s not a knock on Senger’s potential-it’s just a reflection of where Seattle’s front office and coaching staff seem to be heading.
Meanwhile, over in Arizona, the Cardinals have made a decision of their own on the defensive side of the ball. After interviewing Seahawks defensive backs coach Karl Scott for their vacant defensive coordinator position, the Cardinals have opted to retain Nick Rallis, who has been running the defense under Gannon. Rallis staying on board gives the Cardinals some continuity, even as they continue to reshape other areas of the staff.
Back in Seattle, the search for Kubiak’s successor is ongoing, but all signs point to the next OC already being in the building. Still, the process must play out, and Senger’s interview is a part of that. Whether it’s now or down the road, he’s a name worth keeping an eye on as he continues to climb the coaching ladder.
