Seahawks Suddenly Have A Safety Concern They Cant Ignore

The Seahawks face a potential reshuffle in their defensive lineup just as injuries take a toll ahead of the crucial matchup against the Patriots.

The Seahawks’ first injury report for Sunday came with an immediate concern at safety, where Ty Okada was listed as a non-participant because of a hamstring injury. That’s a problem for Seattle, which already has a thin look at the position. If Okada can’t go, D’Anthony Bell could end up starting full-time next to Julian Love.

Seattle also had four players limited in practice. Nick Emmanwori was dealing with an ankle injury, Tory Horton with a hamstring issue, Anthony Bradford with a knee injury, and Josh Jones was also limited with a knee injury.

Emmanwori sitting would not be a surprise based on the report, while Bradford appears to be trending toward playing. Horton looks more up in the air.

Even so, the fact that both Emmanwori and Horton were limited is at least a positive sign at this stage.

There was better news on the full participation side. A.J.

Barner, dealing with an oblique injury, took part fully, along with Julian Neal, who is working through a quad issue, and Emanuel Wilson, who has a hamstring injury. Neal and Wilson may still have questions about what they’ll contribute after missing much of the offseason, but their availability isn’t being threatened by injury.

New England’s report was shorter, but it carried more weight in some spots. Christian Barmore was out with a knee injury, and TreVeyon Henderson also did not practice because of an ankle injury. There has already been some buzz from the Patriots’ camp that Henderson could miss the game.

That would matter because Henderson gives the Patriots’ backfield a different gear. He usually works behind Rhamondre Stevenson, but the two backs complement each other well.

Henderson brings speed and quickness that Stevenson doesn’t, while Stevenson offers more power and better pass protection. If Henderson is unavailable, the ground game loses some of its punch.

Barmore’s absence could be even more significant. He and Milton Williams are the foundation of New England’s strength in the trenches, and the Patriots need that kind of presence now, especially if Christian Gonzalez sits on Wednesday. Ben Brown, the backup center, was also out with a knee injury.

Seahawks Just Invited A Serious Character Debate With This Signing

The Seahawks made a notable addition at cornerback in Terrion Arnold, a move that immediately drew more attention than most late roster tweaks. It is the kind of signing that says as much about how Seattle is balancing talent and risk as it does about the player himself, especially at a time when every roster spot carries extra weight and the team is still sorting out its long view in the secondary.

John Schneider said the organizations evaluation left it confident in Arnolds character, even with pending felony charges still hanging over the situation. For Seattle, the football fit is only part of the story now, because the signing brings a real off-field question into the foreground and leaves the Seahawks to answer whether they were comfortable enough with the background to make the move in the first place. Seahawks Suddenly Need A Familiar Answer In The Secondary

The Seahawks have brought back a familiar face at a position that has been under real strain. Veteran safety DAnthony Bell has rejoined Seattle on the practice squad, giving the team another experienced option after he spent most of the 2025 season in the building before short stops with the Panthers. For a secondary dealing with injuries to other players, the move offers a layer of stability and some much-needed insurance.

Bell already knows the system, which matters when a team is trying to patch together the back end on short notice. His return does not solve everything, but it gives Seattle a depth piece who can step in quickly if needed and keeps a player the coaching staff already knows close to the roster. [Read more 🡒]

Seahawks Already Have A New Pass Rush Question Brewing

With the Seahawks getting ready for their regular season opener against the Patriots, the long view is already starting to come into focus on defense. A recent mock draft from Justin Melo has Seattle landing Oregon edge defender Matayo Uiagalelei in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft, a reminder that pass rush remains one of the most closely watched spots on the roster even as the new season begins.

Uiagaleleis profile is built around his ability to get after the quarterback, and he is expected to be a key piece for Oregon this fall. For Seattle, any projection that early brings the conversation back to the same familiar place: whether the Seahawks will need to keep investing at the top of the draft to keep their front four stocked with impact talent.
