The Seattle Seahawks are making strategic moves to keep their special teams unit strong, reportedly securing long snapper Chris Stoll with a two-year contract. This decision, reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, highlights the team's commitment to maintaining key players.
Stoll, a Penn State alum, joined the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent back in 2023. Since then, he's been a consistent presence, playing every game over the past three seasons, including their playoff run to a Super Bowl victory earlier this year. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 255 pounds, Stoll has also contributed with two career tackles.
His re-signing marks the second reported by the Seahawks on Wednesday morning, alongside offensive tackle Josh Jones. Seattle is also keeping cornerback Josh Jobe and linebacker Drake Thomas in the fold, with reports indicating they’ve re-signed wide receiver and kick returner Rashid Shaheed as well.
While the Seahawks are focusing on retaining their core players, they haven't yet ventured into signing outside free agents. Meanwhile, some of their players are reportedly moving on: running back Kenneth Walker III is heading to Kansas City, outside linebacker Boye Mafe to Cincinnati, safety Coby Bryant to Chicago, and cornerback Riq Woolen to Philadelphia.
As the new league year kicks off at 1 p.m. Wednesday, teams are gearing up to officially sign outside talent. The Seahawks' approach so far underscores a strategy of stability and internal strength as they prepare for the upcoming season.
