The Seattle Seahawks are heading to the Super Bowl, and that means Klint Kubiak’s head coaching prospects are on pause-at least for now. The offensive coordinator has been one of the hotter names in this year’s coaching carousel, but with Seattle still playing, his availability for interviews is limited. NFL rules restrict second interviews during Super Bowl week, so any team still eyeing Kubiak will have to wait until after the big game.
That might actually work in Seattle’s favor.
More than half of the league’s 10 head coaching vacancies have already been filled, which narrows the field and increases the odds that Kubiak could return to the Pacific Northwest in 2026. For a team that’s seen its offense take a noticeable step forward under his guidance, keeping him around would be a big win.
Who’s Called Kubiak So Far?
Kubiak’s name has been in plenty of conversations this hiring cycle. He’s already interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, and Miami Dolphins. Of those six teams, four have already made their hires:
- Falcons brought in Kevin Stefanski
- Giants landed John Harbaugh
- Ravens promoted Jesse Minter
- Dolphins hired Jeff Hafley
That leaves the Raiders and Cardinals as the two teams still in play, assuming they haven’t moved on behind the scenes.
What’s Next for Kubiak?
Here’s where the league rules come into play. During the Super Bowl bye week, teams are only allowed to conduct second interviews with candidates they’ve already spoken to. That means the Raiders and Cardinals are the only two clubs who could potentially meet with Kubiak again this week-if they choose to.
Once Super Bowl week officially begins, all interviews are off the table. The league wants full focus on the game, and that means any coaching decisions involving Kubiak will have to wait until after the final whistle in Vegas.
As for the Cleveland Browns, they haven’t interviewed Kubiak yet, so they’re out of the mix for now. There’s been buzz about them potentially promoting Jim Schwartz from within, which could make that job a non-factor anyway.
Raiders Still in the Mix?
Among the remaining suitors, the Raiders seem like the most serious contender. They’ve reportedly shown strong interest in Kubiak, but they’re also giving a second interview to Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb. Whether that’s a sign they’re leaning another direction or just doing due diligence remains to be seen.
What It Means for Seattle
For the Seahawks, this is a bit of a waiting game. Kubiak’s first year running the offense has been a success by any measure, and it’s no surprise teams are interested. But with the coaching market starting to settle, the chances of him sticking around in Seattle are starting to look more realistic.
Of course, that could all change after the Super Bowl. If Kubiak’s offense puts on a show on the biggest stage, his stock could skyrocket again. But for now, Seahawks fans can enjoy the fact that their OC is locked in for at least one more week-and possibly beyond.
We’ll know soon enough whether this Super Bowl is Kubiak’s last ride with the Seahawks or just the beginning of something bigger in Seattle.
