Seahawks Reunite with Safety, Make Bold Move with Roster Change

Seahawks shuffle roster with key defensive moves, re-signing safety DAnthony Bell and releasing cornerback Tyler Hall, as they bolster their special teams lineup.

The Seattle Seahawks are welcoming back a familiar face in safety D’Anthony Bell, who is set to rejoin the team in free agency. This move was confirmed by NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

In addition to Bell's return, the Seahawks announced the release of cornerback Tyler Hall on Thursday afternoon.

This marks the second consecutive offseason that the Seahawks have added the 29-year-old Bell to their roster. Initially signed on March 24, 2025, Bell was waived before the regular season but managed to stay with the team on the practice squad. He ultimately made his mark by appearing in 14 games, including two starts.

Bell's journey took a brief detour when he was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers on January 1, but he was waived again by January 14 without seeing game action for them.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 211 pounds, Bell contributed significantly on special teams last season. He logged 96 snaps on defense and 251 on special teams for the Seahawks. His stats include allowing just two completions for 18 yards on two targets, making 15 combined tackles, recording half a sack, and even blocking a punt.

Before his time in Seattle, Bell spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns, honing his skills and gaining valuable experience.

As for Tyler Hall, the 27-year-old cornerback from Wyoming played just one game for Seattle in 2025. Hall began his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020 and saw action in 22 games with the Las Vegas Raiders from 2021 to 2023.

The Seahawks have been emphasizing their special teams unit during this free agency period, re-signing key players such as Pro Bowl return man Rashid Shaheed, long snapper Chris Stoll, and captain Brady Russell. This focus underscores the team’s commitment to strengthening all facets of their game as they prepare for the upcoming season.
