The Seattle Seahawks have made Jake Bobo’s injury status official, placing the wide receiver on season-ending injured reserve.
The move comes after Bobo was hurt in Friday’s joint practice against the Tennessee Titans, and it had already started to sound serious by the end of that day. Head coach Mike Macdonald said then that it “seems like it’s going to be a serious knee” that would be a “long-term injury.”
Bobo may not be the kind of player who piles up big numbers, but he mattered in plenty of other ways. He was a fan favorite, a strong presence in the locker room, and a useful piece on special teams and in the run game as a blocker. Losing that kind of player stings, especially with Tory Horton also dealing with an injury that will cause him to be “ out for a period of time ” and leave the receiver depth chart looking thinner near the top.
That opens the door for some younger players to push their way into the conversation. Montorie Foster Jr. and Emmanuel Henderson Jr. now have a clearer path to make their case for the 53-man roster. Veterans Cody White and Irv Charles are also names to watch, with both offering the kind of size and special teams value that Bobo brought.
Seattle also made a corresponding roster move by re-signing wide receiver Julian Hicks. Hicks went undrafted out of Albany in 2024 and spent time with the Green Bay Packers during his first two seasons in the league.
