The Seahawks’ Sunday night matchup with the Chiefs turned into another injury watch for Seattle, with the team losing both a wide receiver and a running back as the game unfolded.
Rashid Shaheed and Velus Jones both exited early, and the club later confirmed the status of each player. The team said one of those injuries was to Jones’ hamstring.
“WR Rashid Shaheed will not return; RB Velus Jones Jr. is Out (hamstring),” the account posted on the social media website X, formerly known as Twitter.
Seattle had already entered the game shorthanded in the backfield. Zach Charbonnet sat out because of a lingering knee injury, one that kept him from finishing out 2025.
Even so, he still collected his ring after watching Kenneth Walker III have a big night against the New England Patriots. The Seahawks also had a notable pregame scare with safety Nick Emmanwori, though he ultimately played.
For Walker, the game meant a return to Lumen Field in a Chiefs uniform after the offseason move that sent him to Kansas City to join Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. But Seattle dictated the style of play for much of the night, leaning on ball control and short, efficient gains rather than chasing fireworks.
The Seahawks had 87 rushing yards heading into the fourth quarter and 257 passing yards overall. They moved the chains 21 times and kept the offense on schedule by converting 10 of 14 third downs.
Seattle was in control at 13-3 with less than five minutes left at Lumen Field before Emanuel Wilson delivered the knockout blow, breaking free for a 21-yard run that pushed the lead to 20-3.

Seahawks Added Insult To Chiefs First Loss In Brutal Fashion
The Seahawks did more than hand Kansas City its first loss of the season in a 20-3 rout. They also turned a milestone night for Travis Kelce into one of the more memorable postgame social media moments of the year, after the tight end moved past Tony Gonzalez for the most combined regular-season and playoff receiving yards by a tight end.
Seattles jab landed after the game, when the teams social account leaned into Kelces profile off the field with a reference to Taylor Swift, his wife, along with a friendship bracelet image and a lyric quote from one of her songs. It was a sharp, very public bit of shade attached to a frustrating afternoon for the Chiefs, and it added another layer to a loss that already stung in more ways than one. [Read more 🡒]
Seahawks Suddenly Face A Rashid Shaheed Concern They Didnt Expect
Rashid Shaheeds afternoon took an unexpected turn in the third quarter when the Seahawks receiver exited with a knee injury and headed to the locker room with a trainer. He was quickly listed as questionable to return, leaving Seattle to sort through the immediate impact of losing one of its most dynamic playmakers in the middle of the game.
The Seahawks have already had to adjust their offensive approach without him, a reminder of how quickly a game plan can change when a key receiver is unavailable. His status will be one of the bigger things to monitor as Seattle tries to navigate the rest of the game and, if needed, plan ahead for what comes next. [Read more 🡒]
Kenneth Walker Couldnt Hide His Frustration After Seahawks Shut Him Down
Kenneth Walker III had a rough reunion with his former team in Week 7, and the frustration showed after the Seahawks handled the Chiefs 20-3. Seattles defense made a point of taking away one of Kansas Citys best ground options, limiting Walker to a season-low 36 rushing yards and helping set the tone for a game the Seahawks controlled from start to finish.
After the final whistle, Walker did not greet his former Seahawks teammates, and he later said he was simply frustrated by the loss. It was a small postgame moment, but one that fit the larger picture from the day: Seattle knew where the threat was coming from, addressed it early and never let Walker find much room to change the outcome.
