Seahawks' New Coaching Shake-Up After Super Bowl Victory Stuns Fans

Seahawks' 2026 coaching reshuffle sees fresh faces like Brian Fleury joining the ranks, as the team repositions for future success.

The Seattle Seahawks have been on quite the rollercoaster ride over the past couple of weeks. Fresh off their Super Bowl victory, head coach Mike Macdonald and GM John Schneider have been busy reshaping their coaching staff for the 2026 season. With Klint Kubiak moving on to head the Las Vegas Raiders, the Seahawks swiftly moved to fill the void, bringing in Brian Fleury from the San Francisco 49ers as their new offensive coordinator.

Fleury, a veteran with 13 years of NFL experience, has worked in various assistant roles, most recently as the 49ers' run game coordinator and tight ends coach. His diverse background and recent success under Kyle Shanahan made him an appealing choice for Seattle.

But Fleury isn’t the only new face in town. Zachary Orr joins as the inside linebackers coach, bringing his experience from the Baltimore Ravens, where he previously worked under Macdonald. Orr's familiarity with Macdonald's defensive schemes should make for a seamless transition.

Thomas Hammock, who led Northern Illinois University as head coach for seven seasons, steps in as the running backs coach and senior offensive assistant. His prior stint with the Ravens adds another layer of depth to the Seahawks' coaching prowess.

Daniel Stern, another Baltimore alum, is set to take on a yet-to-be-defined role. Known for his strategic acumen, Stern is expected to play a significant part in shaping Seattle's offensive strategies.

As for the departures, Kubiak's move to the Raiders also sees Andrew Janocko and Rick Dennison joining him in Las Vegas as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, respectively.

Despite these changes, key members of Seattle's coaching staff are sticking around. Defensive coordinator Aden Durde, who was in the running for head coaching positions elsewhere, is back for another season. His leadership has been pivotal, and his return ensures stability on the defensive side.

Special teams coach Jay Harbaugh remains a cornerstone, having turned Seattle's special teams into a formidable unit. His impact has been undeniable, with the Seahawks scoring multiple special teams touchdowns last season.

Leslie Frazier continues as assistant head coach, offering a wealth of experience and wisdom. His contributions to the team's success cannot be overstated.

John Benton, the offensive line coach, is also returning. Under his guidance, the Seahawks' offensive line has seen remarkable improvement, allowing the fewest sacks in recent memory.

Finally, Justin Outten has been promoted to run game coordinator after playing a crucial role in rejuvenating Seattle's rushing attack last season. His efforts didn't go unnoticed, and his promotion reflects the confidence the Seahawks have in his abilities.

As the offseason progresses, the Seahawks' revamped coaching staff appears ready to build on their Super Bowl success, aiming for another strong campaign in 2026.
