Seahawks Land Six Pro Bowl Stars and Nearly Break Franchise Record

A standout season for Seattle sees six Seahawks heading to the Pro Bowl, continuing a strong tradition of elite individual performances.

The Seahawks are flying high this season, and the league is taking notice.

With six players earning Pro Bowl honors, Seattle came just one selection shy of tying its all-time franchise record. It’s a testament to the kind of season they’re having - leading the NFC and doing it with stars stepping up across the board.

Let’s break down who made the cut and why their names belong among the NFL’s best.

Sam Darnold - Quarterback

What a turnaround story.

In his first year with Seattle, Sam Darnold is heading to his second straight Pro Bowl - and it’s well earned. The 28-year-old has been efficient, explosive, and, most importantly, consistent.

He’s completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,703 yards, with 24 touchdowns and 13 picks. But where he really stands out?

He leads the NFL in yards per completion (13.0) and yards per attempt (8.7). That’s not just airing it out - that’s doing it with precision.

Darnold has been the steady hand in an offense that’s leaned into its playmakers and isn’t afraid to push the ball downfield. His chemistry with Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been electric, and it’s a big reason both are heading to the Pro Bowl.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba - Wide Receiver (Starter)

Speaking of JSN - this guy is rewriting the Seahawks’ record books.

In just his third season, Smith-Njigba has already become one of the league’s premier receivers. He’s caught a franchise-record 104 passes for an NFL-best 1,637 yards and 10 touchdowns.

That yardage number? Also a franchise record.

He’s averaging 15.7 yards per catch - a career high by a wide margin.

He’s not just putting up numbers. He’s doing it with route-running artistry, sideline awareness, and clutch play after clutch play. This is his second straight Pro Bowl, and at just 23, it feels like we’re only scratching the surface.

Leonard Williams - Defensive Tackle (Starter)

Veteran presence, consistent production - Leonard Williams has brought both since arriving in Seattle. At 31, he’s playing some of the best football of his career, earning his third Pro Bowl nod and first back-to-back selection.

Williams has racked up 59 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 7.0 sacks - tied for the team lead - along with 22 quarterback hits. He’s been a disruptive force in the middle, collapsing pockets and anchoring a front that’s been key to Seattle’s defensive resurgence.

Demarcus Lawrence - Outside Linebacker

Lawrence keeps adding to what’s already been a stellar career. The 33-year-old edge rusher is heading to his fifth Pro Bowl - his third in the last four years - and he’s doing it with impact plays that change games.

Just ask the Cardinals. In Week 10, Lawrence returned two fumbles for touchdowns in the same game, a rare feat that highlights his nose for the football.

On the season, he’s tallied 46 tackles, 10 tackles for loss (a team high), 5.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 18 QB hits. He’s the kind of tone-setter every defense needs.

Devon Witherspoon - Cornerback (Starter)

Three seasons.

Three Pro Bowls. Devon Witherspoon is in elite company.

Only Russell Wilson, Lofa Tatupu, and Fredd Young have started their Seahawks careers with three straight Pro Bowl selections.

Despite missing five games this year, Witherspoon still made his presence felt. He’s posted 64 tackles, six passes defensed, an interception, two tackles for loss, and even chipped in with half a sack. His physicality, instincts, and versatility make him one of the most complete young corners in the game.

Rashid Shaheed - Kick Returner (Starter)

Seattle’s special teams got a jolt of electricity when they acquired Rashid Shaheed from New Orleans.

Since joining the Seahawks, he’s been a game-changer. In seven games with the team, he’s already taken both a punt and a kickoff to the house.

Across 16 games this season (between New Orleans and Seattle), Shaheed is averaging 14.8 yards per punt return and a blistering 29.5 yards per kickoff return. That kind of field-flipping ability is rare, and it’s why he’s earned his second career Pro Bowl nod - this time as a starter.

Just Missed the Cut

The Seahawks also had four players named as Pro Bowl alternates: safety Coby Bryant, linebacker Ernest Jones IV, fullback Robbie Outzs, and special teamer Brady Russell. Each has played a key role in Seattle’s success, and they’ll be on standby should any roster spots open up.

Looking Ahead

The Pro Bowl Games will take place in San Francisco during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, culminating in a 7-on-7 flag football showcase on February 3. But for these six Seahawks, the recognition is already in the books.

Seattle’s franchise record for most Pro Bowlers in a single season stands at seven - a mark they’ve hit six times, most recently in 2020. This year’s squad came just one shy, but make no mistake: this group has been one of the most well-rounded and impactful Seattle has fielded in years.

And if their Pro Bowlers keep playing at this level? The Seahawks might be heading to a bigger stage in February.
