Seahawks Keep Jake Bobo, What's Next for the Wide Receiver?

Seattle Seahawks secure key special teams player Jake Bobo with a strategic tender, warding off free agency opportunities.

Seattle Seahawks fans might just be seeing more of Jake Bobo in action. The team announced on Wednesday that they tendered the wide receiver, just before the 1 p.m. deadline marking the start of the new league year. Had they not done so, Bobo would have entered unrestricted free agency.

Bobo received a right of first refusal tender, meaning he’s on a one-year, $3.52 million deal. This allows him to negotiate with other teams, but the Seahawks have the option to match any offer he receives. If they choose not to match, they won’t receive draft pick compensation.

This move comes after reports suggested the Seahawks might not tender the three-year pro. Bobo, who joined Seattle as an undrafted free agent in 2023, has become a fan favorite and an integral part of the special teams unit.

Over his 45 games with the Seahawks, Bobo has recorded 34 receptions for 323 yards and three touchdowns, alongside 587 snaps on special teams. However, his role shifted last season with new additions to the wide receiver lineup, including Cooper Kupp, 2025 draft pick Tory Horton, and midseason acquisition Rashid Shaheed. As a result, Bobo saw a dip in his stats, with just two receptions for 20 yards.

Despite the reduced role, Bobo made a significant impact with a crucial 17-yard touchdown in the NFC Championship victory over the Los Angeles Rams, proving his knack for stepping up in big moments.

Bobo’s standout season was as a rookie in 2023, where he tallied 19 catches for 196 yards and two touchdowns. His ability to make key plays continues to endear him to the Seahawks faithful, who will be eager to see what he brings to the field in the upcoming season.
