Seahawks Just Delivered The Kind Of Statement Win Fans Needed

The Seahawks delivered a commanding performance against the Chiefs, showcasing a revitalized offense and a stifling defense that kept Kansas City in check.

The Seahawks didn’t just hang around on Sunday night - they delivered the kind of performance that forces everyone to take a second look.

Seattle’s offense finally looked in sync, and the numbers backed it up. The Seahawks rolled up more than 400 yards, converted 11 of 16 third downs, and didn’t give up a sack.

That kind of clean, sustained work made the unit look far more functional than it has for much of the season. There were still rough patches, but for most of the night, the offense moved with purpose and control.

At the same time, the defense was even more eye-opening. Kansas City never reached the red zone, let alone the end zone, and Patrick Mahomes spent much of the game looking uncomfortable and rushed.

Seattle’s front and coverage stayed on him, and the Chiefs offense never found a rhythm. Mahomes also couldn’t consistently locate open receivers on time, which made the whole attack look stuck in mud.

Kenneth Walker had a quiet night with 36 rushing yards and no explosive plays, but that didn’t stop Seattle from finding production on the ground. Emanuel Wilson turned in the surprise performance of the game, piling up 100 yards on 24 carries and finishing it off with the game-sealing touchdown. He didn’t rip off a bunch of highlight runs, but his physical style wore down Kansas City’s defense until it finally cracked.

Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba remained the engine of the passing game. Darnold’s interception was a rough moment, but he otherwise looked comfortable and in command, just as he had at his best all season.

He picked up timely first downs with his legs, delivered several clutch third-down throws, and kept feeding Smith-Njigba. JSN finished with 9 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown, and added 13 rushing yards on two throws from Darnold that went down as laterals.

Seattle’s edge showed up in the details too. The offense stayed on schedule with long drives, controlled the clock, and protected the football aside from Darnold’s pick.

No one fumbled, and the time of possession leaned heavily toward the Seahawks. There’s at least a chance the mini-bye helped both Darnold and Brian Fleury settle things down, but Seattle will need to keep showing this version over the next few weeks before anyone can call it a true turnaround.

Seahawks Offense Took Another Hit At The Worst Possible Time

Seattles offense was already working with a careful, ball-control plan, and the personnel losses only made the margin for error thinner. The Seahawks finished with 87 rushing yards and 257 through the air while trying to manage the game late, but the picture got shakier when wide receiver Rashid Shaheed was ruled out for the rest of the night and running back Velus Jones Jr. went down with a hamstring injury.

Zach Charbonnets lingering knee issue adds another layer to the concern, because the Seahawks were already leaning on a methodical approach to keep things in reach. They had a late lead before the opponent stretched it out, and now Seattle has to sort through more questions about health and depth at exactly the moment it needed stability most. [Read more 🡒]

Seahawks Added Insult To Chiefs First Loss In Brutal Fashion

The Seahawks did more than hand Kansas City its first loss of the season in a 20-3 rout. They also turned a milestone night for Travis Kelce into one of the more memorable postgame social media moments of the year, after the tight end moved past Tony Gonzalez for the most combined regular-season and playoff receiving yards by a tight end.

Seattles jab landed after the game, when the teams social account leaned into Kelces profile off the field with a reference to Taylor Swift, his wife, along with a friendship bracelet image and a lyric quote from one of her songs. It was a sharp, very public bit of shade attached to a frustrating afternoon for the Chiefs, and it added another layer to a loss that already stung in more ways than one. [Read more 🡒]

Seahawks Suddenly Face A Rashid Shaheed Concern They Didnt Expect

Rashid Shaheeds afternoon took an unexpected turn in the third quarter when the Seahawks receiver exited with a knee injury and headed to the locker room with a trainer. He was quickly listed as questionable to return, leaving Seattle to sort through the immediate impact of losing one of its most dynamic playmakers in the middle of the game.

The Seahawks have already had to adjust their offensive approach without him, a reminder of how quickly a game plan can change when a key receiver is unavailable. His status will be one of the bigger things to monitor as Seattle tries to navigate the rest of the game and, if needed, plan ahead for what comes next. [Read more 🡒]
