Jeffery Simmons wasted no time making his presence felt in a Bears uniform Monday night.
In his Chicago debut, the defensive tackle piled up five tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss as the Bears took a 13-9 lead over the Seahawks into halftime. Chicago’s defense kept Seattle bottled up for long stretches, limiting the Seahawks to six first downs and 114 yards before the break.
Most of that yardage came on the final drive of the half, and Seattle managed just 1-of-6 on third down. Michael Dickson was busy punting four times.
The Bears set the tone early with a long opening march that covered 80 yards in 17 plays and ate up 8 minutes and 32 seconds. It was Chicago’s 11th drive of at least five minutes this season, and it ended with Luther Burden scoring on a 1-yard touchdown catch. Cairo Santos added field goals from 44 and 38 yards to help build the cushion.
Chicago had 208 total yards at the half, with Caleb Williams completing 17 of 25 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown. Burden was the top target, catching six passes for 53 yards and that score. D’Andre Swift, meanwhile, was held to 26 yards on 11 carries.
Seattle’s offense had little going early, but Jaxon Smith-Njigba kept the Seahawks from slipping away completely. He finished the half with four catches for 92 yards and a touchdown, including a 43-yard score with 30 seconds left that pulled Seattle within 13-9. Jason Myers missed the extra point after that touchdown, though he had earlier connected on a 27-yard field goal in the second quarter.
The Seahawks’ first half included just 29 yards across their first four drives, though they did manage scoring drives of 45 and 71 yards. Sam Darnold was 7-of-15 for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Jadarian Price, back in action, ran four times for 13 yards, while Zach Charbonnet made his 2026 debut and picked up 7 yards on three carries. Price and Charbonnet were also the only other Seahawks to catch a pass besides Smith-Njigba, combining for three receptions for 2 yards.
Left guard Quenton Nelson also made his Seahawks debut after the teams dealt for what they viewed as a missing piece last week.

Seahawks Defense Just Took Another Big Hit In Chicago
The Seahawks defense was already dealing with a difficult night in Chicago when Leonard Williams went down with a stinger and was listed as questionable in the teams official update. His exit added another layer of concern for a unit that had been under pressure throughout Monday Night Football, with the Bears finding enough rhythm to keep Seattle on its heels.
DAndre Swifts late rushing touchdown stretched Chicagos advantage and forced Seattle to keep chasing the game, while rookie running back Jadarian Price was held to limited rushing yards as the Seahawks tried to answer. For a defense that needed a steadying presence, Williams status only deepened the uncertainty around a rough evening. [Read more 🡒]
Seahawks Suddenly Have A Bigger Sam Darnold Problem Than One Loss
The Seahawks came out of Monday night with more than just a loss to the Bears. Sam Darnolds uneven performance fit a season that has already started to sharpen the questions around Seattles quarterback situation, and with the team sitting at 4-4, the conversation is no longer just about one bad game. It is about whether the organization can keep building around him if the inconsistency keeps showing up.
Darnolds stat line against Chicago was serviceable on paper, but the broader concern is what it says about the future. Seattle is already being pushed toward thinking ahead, with the possibility of eventually moving on and looking for a new answer under center, perhaps through the draft. If that path becomes real, the Seahawks will have to decide whether to wait, or start lining up a successor sooner than expected. [Read more 🡒]
Seahawks Now Face A Cardinals QB Twist With Bigger Stakes
The Cardinals are making a quarterback change for the matchup with Seattle, and it comes after Gardner Minshew helped engineer a comeback win over the Dallas Cowboys. Arizona coach Mike LaFleur announced Minshew will start against the Seahawks, with rookie Carson Beck moving into the backup role and Jacoby Brissett sliding to third string.
For Seattle, the shift adds another layer to a division game that already carries plenty of weight. LaFleur said the decision was a difficult one, but he also made clear it was driven by what Arizona needed offensively, which leaves the Seahawks preparing for a familiar veteran presence instead of the rookie look they might have expected.
