The Seahawks will have to handle the Bears without one of their biggest defensive pieces tonight, as Uchenna Nwosu is inactive because of an ankle injury.
Seattle is coming off a statement win over the Kansas City Chiefs, a game in which the Seahawks’ “Dark Side” defense held Kansas City to just three points. But that unit will be missing a burst against Chicago, with Nwosu among the Week 8 inactives.
Seattle’s inactive list also includes OT Charles Cross (ankle), WR Rashid Shaheed (knee), QB Drew Lock (right elbow, Emergency QB3), RB Velus Jones Jr. (hamstring), NT Brandon Pili (back) and OG Beau Stephens.
There is some good news for the Seahawks, though. Anthony Bradford (knee), Patrick O’Connell (toe) and Connor O’Toole (hamstring) were all listed as questionable, but they will play and are available to play. Drake Thomas and Chazz Surratt are also set to return after missing multiple games, giving Seattle a deep linebacker group even without Nwosu.
Chicago will be missing running back Kyle Monangai for the third straight game because of toe and thumb injuries, which should mean more work for Roschon Johnson. Safety Malik Muhammad, who was limited in practice all week and entered the day questionable with a toe injury, is also out, along with four others.
With the division-leading San Francisco 49ers on bye, Seattle can move within two games of first place in the NFC West with a win. That makes this one of the Seahawks’ biggest games of the season, and they’ll need to navigate it against a Bears team that has won four of its last five. The Seahawks are also set to get a boost in the backfield with Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet returning, but the absences on both sides of the ball leave them in a tricky spot.

Seahawks Defense Just Took Another Big Hit In Chicago
The Seahawks defense was already dealing with a difficult night in Chicago when Leonard Williams went down with a stinger and was listed as questionable in the teams official update. His exit added another layer of concern for a unit that had been under pressure throughout Monday Night Football, with the Bears finding enough rhythm to keep Seattle on its heels.
DAndre Swifts late rushing touchdown stretched Chicagos advantage and forced Seattle to keep chasing the game, while rookie running back Jadarian Price was held to limited rushing yards as the Seahawks tried to answer. For a defense that needed a steadying presence, Williams status only deepened the uncertainty around a rough evening. [Read more 🡒]
Seahawks Suddenly Have A Bigger Sam Darnold Problem Than One Loss
The Seahawks came out of Monday night with more than just a loss to the Bears. Sam Darnolds uneven performance fit a season that has already started to sharpen the questions around Seattles quarterback situation, and with the team sitting at 4-4, the conversation is no longer just about one bad game. It is about whether the organization can keep building around him if the inconsistency keeps showing up.
Darnolds stat line against Chicago was serviceable on paper, but the broader concern is what it says about the future. Seattle is already being pushed toward thinking ahead, with the possibility of eventually moving on and looking for a new answer under center, perhaps through the draft. If that path becomes real, the Seahawks will have to decide whether to wait, or start lining up a successor sooner than expected. [Read more 🡒]
Seahawks Now Face A Cardinals QB Twist With Bigger Stakes
The Cardinals are making a quarterback change for the matchup with Seattle, and it comes after Gardner Minshew helped engineer a comeback win over the Dallas Cowboys. Arizona coach Mike LaFleur announced Minshew will start against the Seahawks, with rookie Carson Beck moving into the backup role and Jacoby Brissett sliding to third string.
For Seattle, the shift adds another layer to a division game that already carries plenty of weight. LaFleur said the decision was a difficult one, but he also made clear it was driven by what Arizona needed offensively, which leaves the Seahawks preparing for a familiar veteran presence instead of the rookie look they might have expected.
