Seahawks Eye Explosive Draft Pick to Support Jaxon Smith-Njigba

As the Seahawks gear up for the Super Bowl, attention quietly shifts to the draft, where adding a dynamic partner for breakout star Jaxon Smith-Njigba could be the next bold move.

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their Super Bowl showdown with the New England Patriots, but even with the biggest game of the year looming, front offices around the league know the work never stops. For Seattle, a team with one of the most balanced rosters in football, the upcoming NFL Draft presents an opportunity to reload - not rebuild.

The Seahawks don’t have glaring holes across the board, but if there’s one spot that could use a little more juice, it’s the wide receiver room. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has emerged as a bona fide star, leading the entire league in receiving yards in 2025 with a staggering 1,793. He’s become the go-to guy, the engine of the passing game, and a nightmare for opposing secondaries.

But behind Smith-Njigba, the depth chart thins out quickly. No other Seattle receiver cracked 600 yards last season, which says a lot about both Smith-Njigba’s dominance and the lack of consistent production from the rest of the group. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Seahawks target another pass-catcher in the draft - especially if they’re sitting at the end of the first round with a chance to grab a high-upside playmaker.

That’s exactly what one recent mock draft projects. Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion is the name linked to Seattle with the final pick of Round 1, and there’s a lot to like about the fit.

Concepcion is an explosive athlete with a knack for creating separation and turning short catches into big gains. He brings a similar skillset to Rashid Shaheed - a dynamic threat who, notably, is set to hit free agency this offseason.

Concepcion made a strong impression in his lone season at Texas A&M, earning a 79.7 PFF receiving grade and averaging over 15 yards per catch. He also enters the draft as one of the most electric return specialists in the class, which adds another layer of value to his profile. In today’s NFL, versatility is everything - and Concepcion brings it in spades.

With Shaheed’s future uncertain and veteran Cooper Kupp as the only other proven option behind Smith-Njigba, the Seahawks could use a young, explosive weapon to round out the receiving corps. Concepcion’s college resume backs up the hype: 61 receptions for 919 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025, leading the SEC in scores. Over his collegiate career - split between NC State and Texas A&M - he totaled 185 catches, 2,218 yards, and 25 touchdowns across 38 games.

He’s a burner, plain and simple. A guy who can stretch the field, beat man coverage, and make defenders miss in space. Pairing him with Smith-Njigba would give Seattle a dynamic one-two punch - a blend of precision route-running and home-run speed that could elevate Sam Darnold and the Seahawks’ offense to another level.

Seattle’s Super Bowl run is the story right now, but make no mistake - the front office is already looking ahead. And if KC Concepcion is still on the board when they’re on the clock, he could be the next piece in a championship-caliber puzzle.
