The Seattle Seahawks head into their preseason finale with a lot more on the line for the back end of the roster than the scoreboard.
Seattle is 0-2 this preseason and travels to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday night. The starters are not expected to play, which shifts the spotlight to the players trying to make one last impression before the 53-man roster gets trimmed.
Most of the roster is already spoken for, which is usually how things go for a defending Super Bowl champion. But there are still a few spots worth watching closely, and four players in particular enter this game needing a strong finish to avoid landing on the wrong side of the cut.
Logan Brown has not helped himself much over the first two preseason games. He allowed a sack on third down last week and was flagged for two penalties in that contest.
In Seattle’s first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, he was called for three penalties. That adds up to five penalties in two games, a tough number to carry into the final week with so little time left.
Jared Ivey is another name under pressure. He made the roster as an undrafted free agent a year ago, but his role never really took off.
Ivey played only 10 snaps as a rookie, and this offseason the Seahawks tried him on the defensive line. The move may have shown off some versatility, but it still hasn’t been enough to lock down his place.
He needs a solid performance against the Chiefs to keep from being one of the many players released before Week 1.
Noah Igbinoghene entered as one of Seattle’s veteran additions this year, brought in with the idea that he could help in the slot. Instead, he finds himself in a crowded secondary.
Trevon Diggs’ arrival has pushed a number of players down the depth chart, and Igbinoghene is now in real danger of being cut. His ability to play both outside and in the slot gives him a chance, but nothing about his status is secure.
Nehemiah Pritchett is in a similar fight. Diggs’ presence has put him squarely on the bubble, and unlike Igbinoghene, he does not bring slot experience that could help him survive the numbers game. The two could wind up battling for the final spot in the secondary when Seattle makes its decisions.

Jalen Milroe Just Made Seattles Toughest Roster Decision Even Tougher
Jalen Milroes preseason outing against Tennessee did little to settle the conversation around Seattles quarterback room. The third-round pick looked uneven from the start, finishing with two interceptions, six completions on 11 attempts and 52 yards, a night that put his fundamentals and decision-making under a brighter spotlight than the Seahawks likely wanted. Even so, his place in the organization still carries weight because Seattle invested a premium draft pick in him and sees enough in his running ability to keep developing the package.
The bigger issue now is what the Seahawks do with the rest of the roster around him, especially with injuries thinning out the secondary. Milroes shaky performance only adds another layer to a decision the team already had to think carefully about, because keeping the right mix of depth, upside and versatility matters more when the defensive backfield is already under stress.
