The Seahawks are taking another look at the cornerback market, and this time the search is leading them to a UFL champion.
Seattle is reportedly set to work out Deantre Prince, the former Louisville Kings defensive back, according to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson. Prince spent six games with the Kings, who won the United Bowl in June, and he finished that stretch with 11 tackles, five pass breakups and one interception.
The move fits a familiar Seattle pattern. The Seahawks have a long track record of uncovering value at cornerback in the late rounds and after the draft, and they’ve recently turned fifth-round pick Riq Woolen into a Pro Bowl starter, even if his rise has come with some controversy.
Prince’s path to Seattle has already included one NFL stop. The Jacksonville Jaguars took him in the fifth round of the 2024 draft, and he appeared in 10 games for them.
During that time, he recorded eight tackles and broke up one pass. He was targeted 13 times and gave up five completions for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Before the UFL, Prince built his profile at Ole Miss. In his senior season, he posted 36 tackles and an interception, then backed that up at the combine by running a 4.38-second 40-yard dash.
Seattle isn’t the only team that has checked him out. Prince also worked out with the Cleveland Browns in June. If he lands with the Seahawks, he would join another 2024 fifth-round corner with SEC roots, Nehemiah Pritchett.
