The Seahawks are making some moves in the backfield, bringing back a familiar face as they continue to tinker with their roster late in the season. Seattle signed running back Myles Gaskin to their practice squad, while waiving defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna in a corresponding move.
For Gaskin, this marks another chapter in what’s been a winding NFL journey. The 28-year-old was originally a seventh-round pick by the Dolphins back in 2019 and has since carved out a role as a reliable depth option, bouncing between teams and practice squads. He’s no stranger to Seattle either - this isn’t his first stint with the Seahawks this year.
Gaskin has suited up for five games in 2024, all with the Vikings, but saw minimal action - just one carry for a three-yard loss and a single reception that went for 11 yards. Still, his experience and versatility make him a useful piece to have in the building, especially for a team that’s had its share of injuries at the position.
The Seahawks’ practice squad is now a mix of developmental talent, injury stashes, and veteran insurance. Gaskin joins a group that includes several wide receivers (Velus Jones, Ja’Markis Weston, Jimmy Holiday, and Courtney Jackson), three injured players (WR Tyrone Broden, RB Jacardia Wright, OL Shane Lemieux), and a collection of young defenders like DB Shemar Jean-Charles, S Maxen Hook, and DT Bubba Thomas.
Also notable is the presence of Quandre Diggs on the practice squad - a former starter and respected leader in Seattle’s secondary. His inclusion adds a veteran presence to the group and hints at the Seahawks’ desire to keep experienced players close as they navigate the final stretch of the season.
As for Bohanna, the defensive tackle heads to waivers after a brief stint with the team. Seattle’s defensive line rotation has been fluid this year, and this move likely reflects the team’s ongoing efforts to find the right balance up front.
For now, Gaskin gets another shot to prove he still has something to offer - and the Seahawks get a back who knows the system, knows the building, and can step in if called upon.
