Kenneth Walker III Fires Back After Seahawks Parade Joke Falls Flat
Fresh off a Super Bowl victory and MVP honors, Kenneth Walker III should’ve been basking in the glow of Seattle’s championship parade. Instead, the Seahawks running back found himself addressing an awkward moment that stole some of the spotlight during Wednesday’s celebration.
As the team rolled through the streets of Seattle, still riding high from their win over the New England Patriots, general manager John Schneider took the mic and tried to inject a little humor into the festivities. It didn’t exactly land.
“Ken Walker being the MVP, let’s go!” Schneider shouted to the crowd of nearly a million fans.
“He tried negotiating with me five minutes ago. It was really weird.
M-V-P! M-V-P!”
The crowd’s reaction? Lukewarm at best. And it didn’t take long for Walker to respond.
Later that day, the Super Bowl MVP took to Instagram to set the record straight, posting: “Must’ve been da liquor he drinking cuz I never said dat s***,” followed by two laughing emojis. Message received - Walker wasn’t amused, and he wasn’t going to let the comment slide without a little clapback of his own.
While Schneider’s attempt at humor may have missed the mark, he certainly wasn’t the only Seahawk turning heads at the mic.
Linebacker Ernest Jones lit up the stage with a fiery, unfiltered speech that instantly went viral. “I’m probably the last person they shoulda gave the mic to,” Jones admitted to the roaring crowd at Lumen Field - and he wasn’t wrong.
Jones gave a shoutout to his teammates, calling them “bad-a** motherers that play this game the right way,” before launching into a passionate defense of his squad. “Not only do we have the best defense in the world,” he said, “we got the best team in the world. And quite frankly, you got anything to say about my quarterback, anything to say about our O-line, or you got anything to say about the city of Seattle, I got two words for you: F you!”
It was raw, emotional, and exactly the kind of energy you’d expect from a team that just climbed the NFL’s mountaintop.
Jones also turned heads with his wardrobe choice - a t-shirt featuring a photoshopped image of quarterback Sam Darnold, flipping the bird with a cigarette dangling from his mouth. It was part tribute, part inside joke, and all swagger.
“I’ve been saying it all year,” Jones told NFL Network’s Kay Adams, proudly showing off the shirt. “That’s my dude.
And to come, he gave me his blessing, he was OK with us wearing the shirts, the couple of us that have them on. That’s my guy.
Thank you, Sam, for getting us to this [Super Bowl].”
When Adams asked, “Is that a cigarette in his mouth?” Jones didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, a little cig,” he grinned.
In a day meant to celebrate a championship, the Seahawks gave fans a little bit of everything - heartfelt gratitude, unfiltered emotion, and a reminder that this team isn’t just talented, they’re unapologetically themselves. And if anyone had doubts about the bond in that locker room, Wednesday’s parade made it clear: this squad rides together, jokes, jabs, and all.
