Jaxon Smith-Njigba Sends Clear Message To Tom Brady

As excitement builds for flag football's Olympic debut, a rising NFL star is calling on a legendary quarterback to lead Team USAs charge in Los Angeles.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Wants Tom Brady in the Olympics-Yes, Really

With flag football set to make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, the buzz around who might suit up for Team USA is already heating up-and Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba just added a GOAT-sized twist to the conversation.

Speaking ahead of Super Bowl LX, Smith-Njigba was asked who he’d like to share the field with if given the chance to represent the U.S. in the Olympics. His answer? A blend of Buckeye pride and bold imagination.

“I think playing with Garrett Wilson would be fun, a lot of my Ohio State Buckeyes would be cool,” he said, nodding to a potential reunion with some of his former college teammates. But then came the headline-maker: “I think Tom Brady, you know, him coming back... that would be awesome.”

Yes, that Tom Brady.

And while it may sound like a fantasy draft pick, the idea of Brady donning the red, white, and blue in a flag football setting isn’t entirely out of left field. The seven-time Super Bowl champion may be retired from the NFL, but he’s not entirely done with the game.

Brady is set to take the field this March in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic-a star-studded, tournament-style event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The game will feature NFL names like Rob Gronkowski, Saquon Barkley, and Tyreek Hill, and will be televised by Fox Sports with comedian Kevin Hart hosting. It’ll mark Brady’s first time suiting up for any kind of football since officially retiring in 2023.

While Brady hasn’t said anything definitive about playing in the Olympics, he did hint that this event could be a stepping stone for NFL athletes to get their feet wet in the flag football format.

“It’s a multi-year commitment,” said Brady, who also happens to be a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. “Obviously, we’re getting off to a good start.

The first year will be kind of where everyone’s attention and energy is at. It’s the first time we’ve ever done something like this, but all the players that I’ve talked to are excited about playing.”

Brady added that with the Olympics on the horizon, this event is an important introduction for NFL players to flag football-and he wasn’t about to miss it.

So, is a Brady comeback in the cards for 2028? That remains to be seen. But if Jaxon Smith-Njigba had his way, Team USA’s huddle would include a 51-year-old Brady slinging darts to a crew of Buckeyes and NFL stars on the world’s biggest stage.

And honestly? That would be must-see TV.
