Former Seahawks Draft Miss Suddenly Draws Interest From NFC West Rival

As the 49ers grapple with receiver injuries, former Seahawks draft pick Dee Eskridge showcases his potential to fill the void.

The 49ers are digging for help at wide receiver again, and the latest workout list includes a name Seahawks fans know well.

San Francisco is dealing with another injury crunch at the position. Ricky Pearsall is working through what the team viewed as concerning knee swelling, while Christian Kirk has been sidelined by a calf injury, though that issue does not appear to be as serious. With the room thinned out, the 49ers have brought in three receivers for tryouts.

One of them is Dee Eskridge, who is still looking for a new team with training camp now underway around the league.

Eskridge was Seattle’s second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the top selection the Seahawks made that year. He most recently spent time with the Miami Dolphins after Seattle waived him in 2024. In 19 games with Miami, Eskridge caught seven passes for 106 yards and handled 33 kick returns for 872 yards.

His Seahawks tenure never really took off. Injuries, including a scary concussion in the 2021 season opener, limited his availability, and even when he was on the field, he rarely made much of an impact.

Still, a couple of his best NFL moments came against San Francisco. His lone touchdown came in Seattle’s 30-23 win over the 49ers in 2021.

He also posted his career-long kick return of 66 yards on Thanksgiving night in 2023, in what was otherwise a rough outing.

If Eskridge ends up signing with San Francisco, he would become the second of Seattle’s three 2021 draft picks to land there at some point. Tre Brown was briefly with the 49ers last year before being released from injured reserve.

Seahawks Camp Suddenly Has A Rookie Surge And A New Bobo Concern

Training camp has started to sort out a few things for the Seahawks, and one of the louder developments has come from the rookie class. Bud Clark has been working with the second-team defense, but he made his presence felt in a big way during 7-on-7 work when he jumped a tipped Jalen Milroe pass and turned the takeaway into a celebration that fit right in with the energy of camp.

Milroe, meanwhile, put together what looked like his sharpest practice yet, stacking accurate throws and finishing drives with touchdowns while showing more command of the offense. The safety picture is still taking shape behind Julian Love and Ty Okada, with D'Anthony Bell handling a role while Nick Emmanwori recovers from ankle surgery, and that makes every rep and every play from the young defensive backs feel a little more important as camp moves on. Seahawks Fans Just Got A Much More Encouraging Zach Charbonnet Update

Zach Charbonnets recovery has become one of the more closely watched Seahawks camp storylines, especially with the running back still on the physically unable to perform list after ACL surgery. The early expectation had been a return somewhere in the fall, and Seattle has every reason to handle the rehab carefully rather than rush a player it still views as part of the backfield plan.

There is at least some reason for optimism around Charbonnets progress, even if the team is not treating an immediate return as the likely outcome. If he does make it back sooner than expected, the Seahawks would have to sort out how to balance his workload alongside rookie Jadarian Price, while also keeping an eye on how Charbonnets final year under contract shapes the bigger picture for his season.
