Former Packers star Ahman Green has revealed that he is dealing with early-onset Parkinson’s disease, a diagnosis he said he received last year.
Green made the disclosure in an appearance on Tyler Dunne’s Go Long podcast, saying, “Last year, I got diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s,” Green told Tyler Dunne on his Go Long podcast (h/t Jason Owens of Yahoo Sports).
He also described the first signs that pushed him to seek medical help. “I had a little bit of the feet twitching when I’m in my sleep and stuff like that.
I knew something was going on long before that. I just got a hold of some doctors that I was able to get in contact with.
Get the diagnostics, get the testing. And finally got it tested last-it was January of 2025.”
Green said he kept the diagnosis private at first so his family could hear it from him before anyone else. “I didn’t share it for a long time because I wanted to let my kids know, my family,” Ahman Green continued. “… I let them all know first before I told friends, family, somebody like yourself.”
The reaction was immediate, with supporters flooding social media with messages for the former running back. Green played 12 seasons in the NFL from 1998 to 2009, including eight years with Green Bay, where he piled up 8,322 of his 9,205 career rushing yards. He remains the Packers’ all-time leading rusher with over eight thousand yards, and he was also a 4-time Pro Bowler and a 2-time college national champion.
Green said he is handling the diagnosis by staying committed to “focused on healthy living, including working out and nutrition in addition to taking medication to combat the symptoms of the disease.”
