Randy Arozarena is back in action with the Seattle Mariners after Team Mexico's exit from the World Baseball Classic. On Saturday morning, he was seen getting right back to work, hitting in the cages with assistant hitting coach Bobby Magallanes before the Mariners faced off against the Angels in Tempe, Arizona.
While the media was busy chatting with Andrés Muñoz and Miles Mastrobuoni about their WBC experiences, Arozarena kept a low profile, opting not to speak directly to reporters. Instead, he released a statement through the team:
“We didn’t get the results we wanted with Team Mexico, but I’m glad to be back in camp with my teammates. The WBC is behind us now, and I don’t want anything to take away from the Mariners. I’m focused on the season and helping this team compete for a World Series.”
Dan Wilson caught up with Arozarena for a quick chat before his cage session, describing it as simply “a chance to say hello.” Despite some external buzz, Wilson is confident that any tension between Arozarena and teammate Cal Raleigh won’t be a lingering issue in the Mariners' clubhouse.
“Our goal here is to win a World Series,” Wilson emphasized during his morning media session. “Putting that behind us is a big part of that goal.
Our focus now is really on March 26th, opening day, and getting the season started. That’s how we’re looking at it.”
Inside the clubhouse, it seems the focus remains on the upcoming season, even if there were a few laughs and lighthearted comments the day after the event. The outside chatter might be loud, but the Mariners appear united and ready to move forward.
