Welcome to this week's Seattle Kraken prospects update, where we dive into the latest happenings around the system. From a suspension to Olympic highlights, and standout performances, we've got it all covered.
Goyette Faces Suspension
Seattle Kraken prospect David Goyette is facing a 20-game suspension for violating the AHL's Performance Enhancing Substance Program. The 21-year-old forward has tallied three goals and seven assists across 47 games this season. Just before the suspension, Goyette showcased his offensive prowess with a standout play.
Kraken GM Jason Botterill expressed support for the league's program, emphasizing the importance of learning from this experience. Goyette, in his statement, denied intentional use of prohibited substances but acknowledged responsibility and accepted the league's decision. He aims to work with the program to understand the situation better and plans to return stronger.
Goyette missed his first game on February 18 and will be eligible to return on April 10. With only five regular-season games remaining, his role upon return remains uncertain. The 2022 second-round pick still has a season left on his entry-level contract.
