Texas Stars Snap Barracuda Streak In Tight Finish

San Jose's winning streak came to an end as the Texas Stars prevailed in a tightly contested matchup.

In a hard-fought battle at Tech CU Arena, the San Jose Barracuda's impressive streaks came to a halt as they fell to the Texas Stars, 3-2. The Barracuda, who had been riding a three-game winning streak and a five-game home winning streak, found themselves outpaced by a determined Stars squad.

The action kicked off midway through the first period when Texas' Jack Becker found the back of the net with a sharp shot from the left wing, marking his 13th goal of the season. But the Barracuda wasted no time in responding. Just 18 seconds later, Colin White capitalized on a power play, redirecting an Oliver Wahlstrom shot to even the score.

San Jose took the lead late in the second period, thanks to Egor Afanasyev. He seized an opportunity after a Texas turnover near their net, snapping a shot past goalie Rémi Poirier to give the Barracuda a 2-1 edge heading into the final period.

The third period, however, saw Texas rally. Luke Krys tied things up with a shot from the point that navigated through traffic, leveling the score at 10:12. Then, at 16:32, Kole Lind delivered the decisive blow, securing the victory for the Stars with his 11th goal of the season.

Despite a solid effort from San Jose's Laurent Brossoit, who made 31 saves, it was Poirier's 33-save performance that helped Texas clinch the win. Special teams played a role, with San Jose converting one of their four power-play opportunities, while Texas was unable to capitalize on any of their six chances with the man advantage.

The Barracuda will look to regroup and bounce back as they continue their quest for postseason success.
