Sharks Rally as Ryan Reaves Stays Benched with Gruesome Finger Injury

Despite a setback from injury, Ryan Reaves remains a pivotal presence on the Sharks' bench, inspiring teammates with his unmatched leadership and resilience.

**San Jose, Calif. ** - The San Jose Sharks faced a tough 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, but the real story of the game was forward Ryan Reaves’ unsettling finger injury.

It happened during a first-period tussle with the Flyers’ Garrett Wilson. Reaves immediately headed to the bench, where trainer Will Leonard quickly attended to him.

Though he managed one more shift in the first period, Reaves spent the rest of the game supporting his team from the bench.

Barclay Goodrow, visibly emotional, spoke highly of Reaves, who’s notched three goals and 37 penalty minutes in 50 games this season. “He’s an unbelievable teammate,” Goodrow shared.

“Every night, he brings everything he’s got. He’s a great friend.”

When pressed on his emotions, Goodrow added, “He’s the best guy. Even when he’s not on the ice, he’s there for everyone.

He works tirelessly. Everyone in the room can learn from him.”

Mario Ferraro, who had a roughing penalty that led to a crucial power-play goal by Christian Dvorak, also praised Reaves’ influence. With the Sharks battling for a playoff spot in a tight Pacific Division, Ferraro emphasized Reaves’ leadership.

“He leads on the ice, off the ice, and on the bench,” Ferraro said, his voice tinged with emotion. “He’s always willing to do whatever it takes for the team, even if it means just being there on the bench, pumping us up.”

Ferraro continued, “He brings that energy, and we’re really grateful to have him. He’s going to keep helping us push for this playoff spot.”

Coach Ryan Warsofsky didn’t have an update on Reaves post-game, but the team’s appreciation for his leadership was clear. The Sharks know they’ll need every bit of his spirit as they continue their playoff push.
