Seattle Kraken Activates Murray and Nyman Gets Big Call-Up

Seattle Kraken make strategic roster moves as they prepare for a pivotal road trip to secure their playoff aspirations.

Seattle Kraken News: Murray's Return, Nyman's Call-Up, and McMann's Impact

In the ever-evolving world of the Seattle Kraken, there's plenty to discuss, from Matt Murray's return to the ice to Jani Nyman's NHL call-up and more.

Matt Murray Back in Action

Quietly making waves last week, the Kraken activated goaltender Matt Murray from injured reserve. Murray, who last played on November 15 against the San Jose Sharks, exited early due to injury. Philipp Grubauer stepped in admirably, stopping all 19 shots faced.

Before his injury, Murray played five games, starting three, and boasted an impressive .922 save percentage-the best among Kraken goaltenders. Signed during the 2025 offseason, Murray was part of Seattle's plan to bolster their goaltending depth. With his return, fans hope to see him back in net soon, especially during the upcoming road trip.

Jani Nyman Joins the Squad

As the Kraken gear up for their road trip, they recalled forward Jani Nyman from their AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. This move comes as Jaden Schwartz is sidelined indefinitely with an upper-body injury, and Eeli Tolvanen also missed the last game due to a similar issue.

Nyman has shown promise, recording six points in 24 games with the Kraken earlier this season. After honing his skills in the AHL with 27 points in 29 games, he's ready to make an impact again. His presence could be a boost for the Kraken's bottom six, especially with key players out.

Bobby McMann's Electrifying Start

The Kraken's last-minute trade deadline move brought Bobby McMann from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for draft picks. After resolving immigration issues, McMann debuted on March 14, immediately proving his worth with two goals and an assist in a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

Continuing his hot streak, McMann added a goal and an assist against the Florida Panthers, delighting the home crowd with a 6-2 win. He scored again versus the Tampa Bay Lightning, though the Kraken fell short in that matchup. With four goals and six points in just three games, McMann's offensive contributions are exactly what Seattle needed.

Crucial Road Trip Ahead

Starting March 19, the Kraken embark on a pivotal six-game road trip. Currently holding the second wild-card spot with 71 points, they're neck and neck with the Los Angeles Kings and closely trailed by the Sharks.

The first stop is against the Nashville Predators, who are just behind the Sharks in the standings. With the Western Conference playoff race intensifying, each game is critical. Seattle needs to secure victories to maintain their playoff position and fend off the competition.

The Kraken are in for a thrilling end to March, with every game carrying significant weight in their postseason quest.
