The Barracuda set the pace throughout the first period, outshooting the Firebirds 13-6 and holding a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. They continued their offensive push in the second period, with Colin White tipping in an Oliver Wahlstrom shot on another power play at 2:52, extending the lead to 2-0. Kasper Halttunen added to the tally late in the frame, finishing a setup from Patrick Giles at 17:31, giving San Jose a comfortable three-goal cushion.
