Macklin Celebrini is about to show up in a different kind of spotlight.
The San Jose Sharks star will be featured in The Hollywood Reporter’s new series, “THR’s Game Recognize Game,” where he sits down with “Off Campus” actor Belmont Cameli. THR says the concept “pairs acclaimed Hollywood talent with one of the sports superstars they most admire for a candid conversation at the intersection of fame, achievement and cultural influence.”
Celebrini’s episode is set to arrive right after the installment featuring new Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown and Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali.
It’s another sign of how quickly Celebrini’s profile has grown beyond hockey. In just two seasons, he has represented Team Canada at the senior level three times, set the Sharks’ single-season franchise points record, and signed the highest AAV contract in NHL history.
Cameli, 28, is having his own breakout moment. He already had a sizable social media following and credits including the “Saved by the Bell” reboot before “Off Campus” pushed him further into the spotlight.
The series launches on Aug. 26.
