Giants Make Ugly History In Brutal Yankees Series

Giants stumble into the record books with a historic lack of offense in their opening clashes against the Yankees.

The San Francisco Giants kicked off their season against the New York Yankees, and while the excitement was palpable, the results have been less than stellar for first-year manager Tony Vitello and his squad.

Opening Day was tough, with the Giants taking a hit from the Yankees. Things looked a bit more promising on Friday night with Robbie Ray on the mound, but the Giants still couldn't snag a win. Aaron Judge shook off an early-season slump to power the Yankees to a 3-0 victory at Oracle Park.

This start has put the Giants in an unwelcome spot in the history books. They became the first team ever to open a season with zero runs and five or fewer hits across their first two games. That’s not the kind of record any team wants.

Offensively, San Francisco struggled to find their rhythm. They managed just one hit all game-a second-inning double by center fielder Heliot Ramos into right field.

As the Giants aim for a postseason berth in 2026, the road looks challenging. Last season, they wrapped up with a balanced 81-81 record and have been chasing a playoff spot since their impressive 107-win season in 2021.

Looking ahead, the Giants are eager to notch their first win of the year on Saturday against the Yankees, before heading to San Diego for a three-game series against the Padres starting Monday. It's early days, but the Giants will need to find their spark soon.
