Jackson Flora is about to take the next step in a Giants system that’s suddenly loaded with pitching talent. The 21-year-old right-hander, the fourth overall pick in the 2026 MLB draft, is set to join Single-A San Jose and make his pro debut Friday for the Fresno Grizzlies, according to a source.
Flora was on the mound just this past Saturday in the “Bridge League,” the circuit that “bridges” the gap between the end of the Arizona Complex League and the start of instructional camps. The Giants are expected to keep his workload light early, likely limiting him to an inning or two after he logged a career-high 102 innings in his final season at the University of Santa Barbara.
San Jose gives Flora a strong landing spot. The club currently includes Josuar Gonzalez, Luis Hernandez and Peyton Bonds, and its regular season wraps up Sunday, Sept.
- The Giants’ Single-A team then opens the postseason on Tuesday, Sept. 8, which leaves open the possibility that Flora could appear in the playoffs if his first outing goes well.
For Flora, the debut also carries a hometown feel. He attended Foothill High School in Pleasanton, grew up a Giants fan and is now part of the group of arms the organization added in July through the draft and trades. That wave includes Carson Bolemon, the 29th overall pick, Kaden Waechter, the 55th pick, Ramon Marquez from the Luis Arraez trade, Miguel Mendez from the Robbie Ray trade and Henry Lalane from the Heliot Ramos trade.
“The Giants have always been the team that I wanted to play for, and I’m really excited that worked out,” Flora said in July. “This is where I want to be, and this is the city I want to play in.”
