Dakota Jordan Stuns as Sleeper Pick for 2027's Top-100 List

Despite having few top-100 prospects, the SF Giants may see rising star Dakota Jordan break into the 2027 rankings with continued success.

The 2026 season has been a breakout year for Dakota Jordan, positioning him as a potential name to watch on the top-100 prospect lists for 2027. Jim Callis from MLB Pipeline has singled out the SF Giants outfield prospect as a sleeper pick for next year's prestigious list.

Currently, the Giants have only two prospects on MLB Pipeline's top-100 preseason list: Bryce Eldridge at No. 25 and Josuar Gonzalez at No. 44.

While infield prospect Luis Hernández didn't make the cut, likely due to international signing rules, he did land at No. 3 in the organization's top-30 ranking. His talent suggests he could climb the ranks quickly.

The Giants' farm system has shown marked improvement, though it seems MLB Pipeline might be prioritizing proven production over potential. This leaves room for several young Giants prospects to make a splash in the coming year. Hernández, a standout in international free agency, has the pedigree to rise rapidly.

Names like Bo Davidson, Jhonny Level, and Gavin Kilen have already caught the eye of Baseball America, which included them alongside Eldridge and Gonzalez in its latest top-100. Meanwhile, Keith Law from The Athletic has recognized Kilen's potential as well.

Keep an eye on Argenis Cayama, Keyner Martinez, Luis De La Torre, and Jacob Bresnahan, who are all poised to make waves if their development continues on its current trajectory.

Dakota Jordan, however, is the standout story. His impressive performance in the California League nearly earned him the Triple Crown, tying for the lead with a .311 batting average and 14 home runs, just missing out on RBIs.

Once seen as a first-round draft talent in 2024, Jordan's stock dipped due to concerns over signability and contact skills. However, he's addressed those worries, reducing his strikeout rate from 29.0 percent in college to 22.8 percent in 2025.

Jordan's toolkit is impressive: above-average power, solid speed, and a growing confidence on the bases. With his arm and agility, he's on track to develop into a dependable center fielder. If he continues this trajectory, expect to hear much more about Dakota Jordan in the future.
