NFL Evaluation Of Brock Purdy Spotlights Two Traits 49ers Fans Know

Could Brock Purdy's unique skills be the game-changers that elevate him among the NFL's elite quarterbacks?

Brock Purdy may not sit in the same conversation as Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, but an NFL executive still sees two traits that separate him from the pack.

In a recent ESPN poll of NFL executives, scouts and coaches compiled by Jeremy Fowler, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback landed as an honorable mention just outside the league’s top 10. That alone says plenty about how he’s viewed around the NFL, even after a 2025 season that was limited by injury.

The sharper detail came from an NFC executive who pointed to two areas where Purdy is elite.

"He has got two superpowers," the NFC executive said. "Layering the ball and shot-area quickness to stay alive. He's elite in those two areas."

Those skills matter for any quarterback, but especially for one operating in a Kyle Shanahan offense. Purdy’s touch and feel as a passer let him fit throws into windows that other quarterbacks might not even attempt. He can drop the ball over a defender or thread it between multiple defenders, and that kind of layering gives him more answers as a playmaker.

The other part of the equation is his ability to keep plays from dying. The executive’s reference to “shot-area quickness to stay alive” isn’t about straight-line speed or a big rushing threat. It’s about how Purdy handles pressure in tight spaces, turning what could have been a sack into a throwaway, a scramble for a short gain or even a completion.

That ability showed up in the numbers, too. Purdy was sacked 11 times this past season in nine games, a 3.73% sack rate.

For the 49ers, that combination is the appeal: a quarterback who can place the ball with precision and still find a way out of trouble when the pocket starts collapsing.

49ers May Finally Have The Defensive Answer Fans Have Been Waiting For

As the 49ers head toward the start of the 2026 season, the conversation around the roster is still being shaped by the Brandon Aiyuk contract dispute on one side and the need for more stability on the other. On defense, the focus is turning to Alfred Collins, the 2025 draft pick who is expected to become a much bigger part of the line as San Francisco looks for growth from its young players and a cleaner bill of health after an injury-hit 2025.

Collins is the kind of interior presence the 49ers have been waiting to see blossom, especially with veteran Osa Odighizuwa alongside him to help anchor the front. If Collins takes the next step, it could give San Francisco a far more disruptive defensive identity and make life harder for opposing offenses from the jump, which is exactly the sort of answer this team has been searching for as camp and the regular season draw closer. Robert Saleh Just Said Something 49ers Fans Will Not Ignore

Robert Salehs name still carries weight around the 49ers, and his latest comments only keep that conversation alive. After leaving San Francisco to take over the Titans, Saleh recently looked back on his second stint with the club and pointed to the kind of resiliency and leadership that have long made the building stand out, a reminder of why his time there left such a strong impression.

For 49ers fans, the interesting part is not just the praise, but what it could mean down the road. If Saleh ever finds himself back on the market, San Francisco would make sense as a possible landing spot again, especially if a defensive coordinator opening comes up and the organization is looking for a familiar voice who already knows the room. 49ers Fans Hit With Another Disturbing Brandon Aiyuk Twist

Brandon Aiyuk has already spent plenty of this offseason in the rumor mill, but a troubling social media post has now pushed the 49ers wideout into a different kind of spotlight. The video has stirred backlash around the league and among San Francisco fans, adding another layer of unease to a situation that was already being watched closely because of his uncertain future.

The controversy also comes as the speculation around a possible move to Washington continues to linger, even if not everyone is buying it. Former NFL receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh has publicly brushed aside the idea of Aiyuk landing with the Commanders, leaving the bigger questions around the receivers next step and what comes next for the 49ers still unresolved.
