Brandon Aiyuk's situation with the San Francisco 49ers has become one of the most captivating narratives this season. After a season-ending injury kept him off the field in 2025, Aiyuk's future with the team seems uncertain, sparking speculation that his time in San Francisco might be over.
Even George Kittle, the 49ers' standout tight end, expressed his surprise over the developments. During his appearance on the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast, Kittle shared insights into Aiyuk's status.
Kittle recounted, “The last I saw Aiyuk, he was in and out of training camp. He’d pop into the weight room for rehab but didn’t come to the locker room much.
I’d see him there and chat, just to let him know I’m there for him. Around Week Six, things took a turn, and then suddenly, he was gone.”
On ESPN's NFL Live, Adam Schefter shed more light on the standoff between Aiyuk and the 49ers, discussing the potential for his release.
Schefter explained, “While there are reports about releasing him, it’s not happening imminently. The team has no guaranteed money left in his contract, allowing them to keep him for now. They might explore trade options during the draft or hold onto him until June.”
He added, “They’ve invested significantly in him, so any decision won’t be rushed. They'll likely evaluate trade possibilities before making a move.”
This unfolding situation leaves fans and analysts alike pondering Aiyuk’s next chapter and how it will impact the 49ers moving forward.
