A romance-and-investment scam that stretched across multiple states has landed Daejon Labrayae Love in federal trouble after authorities say he posed as a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and a wealthy real estate investor to swindle women out of more than $1.3 million.
Federal officials say Love targeted women on dating apps including Tinder, Hinge and Facebook Dating between February 2022 and March 2025. The setup was built to look convincing from the start: he formed romantic relationships, told victims he wanted to settle down and build wealth together, then backed up the pitch with fake social media accounts and altered photos showing him in 49ers gear or behind the wheel of luxury cars.
From there, the scam grew more elaborate. Love allegedly brought in an accomplice and introduced that person as a financial advisor, even staging fake three-way FaceTime calls to sell the illusion. Once trust was in place, the women were pushed into putting large sums into bogus investment schemes.
Love was arrested on August 24, 2026, and booked on federal wire fraud charges. Authorities say 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan helped by pretending to be his financial adviser during the calls. Together, the pair are accused of tricking at least 26 women out of more than $1.3 million.
Law enforcement arrested Love and Chan on August 24, 2026, at the Boise Airport after federal authorities uncovered the scheme. Officials believe there may be more victims and are encouraging anyone affected to come forward.
