Bills Eye 49ers Receiver As Free Agency Heats Up

As the 49ers reshape their roster, wide receiver Jauan Jennings emerges as a prime free agent fit for the AFC East contender Buffalo Bills, offering a promising addition to their offensive lineup.

The San Francisco 49ers entered the 2026 NFL offseason with some clear objectives, particularly at edge rusher and wide receiver. While they haven't yet snagged an edge rusher, they did make waves by signing Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This move, however, leaves Jauan Jennings, a key free agent, searching for a new home.

Jennings, with his proven track record over five seasons in San Francisco, is a hot commodity in free agency. Saad Yousuf from The Athletic suggests that Jennings would be an ideal fit with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.

Jennings to the Bills: A Smart Fit

Jennings has shown himself to be a reliable target, albeit not a traditional No. 1 receiver. Still, his presence could elevate the Bills’ receiving corps, especially when paired with D.J.

Moore, whom Buffalo acquired from the Chicago Bears for a second-round pick. Despite this addition, the Bills' WR room showed inconsistency last season, and Jennings could be the steadying force they need.

Jennings’ stats speak volumes-55 catches for 643 yards and nine touchdowns last season, all while battling injuries. He might not be the headliner, but alongside Moore and Khalil Shakir, he could thrive with Allen orchestrating the offense.

The 49ers’ decision to let Jennings walk after signing Evans opens the door for Buffalo to make a strategic move. Jennings, at 28, presents an affordable yet impactful option to bolster their lineup.

Yousuf also notes that former Bills edge rusher Joey Bosa would fit seamlessly with the 49ers, suggesting a potential win-win scenario for both teams. If these moves materialize, both Buffalo and San Francisco could see significant upgrades without breaking the bank.
