The 49ers are off to a 2-0 start, but the wide receiver room is already looking stretched thin, and that has put Jerry Jeudy into the conversation.
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton identified the Cleveland Browns receiver as a fit for San Francisco, and the idea makes some sense on paper. Jeudy was a former first-round pick, and he was still producing at a high level as recently as the 2024 season, when he posted 1,229 yards.
In 2025, though, Cleveland’s offense fell apart and his output dropped to 602 yards. Now the Browns have a new coaching staff in 2026 and are leaning hard into young talent.
That shift has pushed Jeudy into a smaller role. Rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion are tied with 11 targets apiece, second-year tight end Harold Fanin has nine, and second-year running back Quinshon Judkins has seven. Jeudy has just two catches on five targets through two games, and if Cleveland gets a reasonable offer, the team would be willing to move him.
For the 49ers, the need is obvious. Christian Kirk is on the IR and has hardly practiced since signing with the team.
De’Zhaun Stribling is also on the IR and is expected to miss about nine more weeks, while Demarcus Robinson is expected to join him. Mike Evans has been productive, but injuries have been piling up around him.
Jacob Cowing is mostly working as a return man, and the team has made KhaDarel Hodge a priority over Jordan Watkins. The depth chart gets thin in a hurry.
Jeudy would give San Francisco another option inside, where he could work as a slot receiver with Deebo Samuel and Mike Evans on the outside. If Stribling or Robinson were due back soon, the urgency might not be as high. But with the group needing help longer than expected, and with the 2-0 start in hand, a trade for Jeudy is a possibility.

Brock Purdys sharp afternoon in the 49ers 35-13 win over the Dolphins carried over into the numbers game, too. Pro Football Focus handed him the highest overall offensive grade in the NFL for Week 2 after he completed 20 of 22 passes for 287 yards, threw two touchdowns and added a rushing score, all while San Franciscos line kept him clean and did not allow a sack.
The grading also painted a fuller picture of how the offense functioned around him, with George Kittle standing out in the receiving evaluation and Kyle Juszczyk earning his usual value in the mix. Not every name landed as high, though, and the split in the grades makes the review of this rout a little more interesting for a 49ers team that looked dominant on the scoreboard but still gave PFF plenty to sort through.
